One of the key issues that Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain will be debating is that of illegal immigration. They will pooh hoo over reform and amnesty. They will consider border security. But one thing I have not heard in the discussion that is the most important aspect, and largest contributor to illegal immigration, is what they will do about businesses that employ illegal immigrants. These businesses should begin to feel political, economic, and legal pressure, in my opinion, if we ever want to truly curtail illegal immigration.

There should be no debate, the law is the law, illegal is illegal, ENFORCE THE DAMN LAW.
What argument? Holy crap, weve been discussing this issue until even my most ardent liberal opponents are blue in the face. Enforce the damn laws now!!!!! These idiot politicians have no idea what consequences face them.
Post the whole commentary instead of trying to drive people to your website.
The only argument they have is over who can get more illegals over here quicker and who can kiss more of their butts.
What consequences will that be?
I would love to see businesses lose their illegal slave labor and improve the job market for Americans- and for immigrants trying to become citizens legally. So Mrs. Smith’s hedges look bad- big deal. We’re undermining our labor market for a nice lawn?
If prices go up on some things, oh well. Competition is a good thing, and people refusing to buy a service over price doesn’t do the vendor any good. Let the market work it out.
And yes, I’m self employed, and no, I don’t hire illegals.
What’s to debate? Both candidates and both parties are salivating over the prospect of 25 million of God’s chi’run becoming wards of the socialist state and a permanent voting block. It’s not up for debate anymore. Welcome to 3rd world s*&thole status thanks to Bush, McCain and the Cheap Labor Lobby.
Argument considered.
Argument rejected.
This has been debated, ad nauseum. It’s time to hold elected officials accountable for enforcement of laws already on the books.
Citizens of other countries who cross our borders under circumstances other than those recognized in law are CRIMINALS. This is not an arguable issue. The only argument we need to be having is how quickly to complete the process to secure our border (all of it). For my part, the quicker the better.
“They will *consider* border security” ???
If we had border security, illegal immigration would be a lesser problem. So would drugs, terrorists, infectious disease, etc.
