General Wesley Clark Disses McCain's Leisurely Combat Missions

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Wesley Clark - "I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president."

Even in the Marines, I noticed that the better looking Corporals who had the square chin, bold cheekbones and that All American GQ look seem to get promoted in double time speed to Sergeant. Perhaps former Marine General Anthony Zinni (now a radical lib/internationalist Democrat antiwar politico) was similarly promoted because of the cut of his jib. I mean they have "got the look" of military poster men. IOW they had a physical appearance more impressive than General George S. Patton, but could hardly hold a candle to his military presence and skill.

Along comes John McCain who certainly knew something about leadership in the military having been a son and grandson of naval admirals. He must have picked up something about the military during his youth - at least a bit more than Hillary and Obama - who are Clark's and Zinni's choices to lead U.S. forces in wartime.

According to Handsome Wesley Clark who performed quite below average in directing air attacks against the Serbs in order to defend the Muslim Kosovars which was the twisted strategy of a Monicaized Bill Clinton, John McCain was just riding in an airplane, sort of like ride in Wesley's limo, before he was shot down.

Wesley Clark did not mention in his recent smear of McCain that McCain's ride was cut short by being shot down and then according to the Senator,

"I pulled the ejection handle, and was knocked unconscious by the force of the ejection—the air speed was about 500knots. I didn't realize it at the moment, but I had broken my right leg around the knee, my right arm in three places, and my left arm. I regained consciousness just before I landed by parachute in a lake right in the corner of Hanoi, one they called the Western Lake. My helmet and my oxygen mask had been blown off."
After he regained consciousness, a crowd attacked him, crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt, and bayoneted him;he was then transported to Hanoi's main Hoa Lo Prison nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton."
In August of 1968, a program of severe torture began on McCain. McCain was subjected to repeated beatings and rope bindings, at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery. After four days, McCain made an anti-American propaganda "confession". He has always felt that his statement was dishonorable, but as he would later write, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine." His injuries left him permanently incapable of raising his arms above his head.He subsequently received two to three beatings per week because of his continued refusal to sign additional statements. Other American POWs were similarly tortured and maltreated in order to extract "confessions" and propaganda statements, with many enduring even worse treatment than McCain."Wikipedia and other sources

Wesley Clark was shot in Vietnam, and was able to recover and continue serving in the military. Clark was also in command of the federal involvement during the Waco, Texas siege. He won that one hands down.

Even if John McCain was not fit to command as Commander In Chief as President of the United States, where in heaven's name would that leave Obama (who never commanded a National Guard like Bill Clinton) or Hillary Clinton who knew only how to command United States Marines to serve horderves at White House functions?

All sorts of powerful responses he could have made, and still could actually. I’m just so tired of our lightweight approach to dealing with these people. The ‘Rats are actively working to undermine everything good in this country, and nobody calls them out, gets it right out on the table for all to see and for all to decide on. The lukewarm approach from our side leaves things ambiguous, and allows right-thinking but uninformed Democrats to continue supporting a party whose core is so far removed from their own, they would be stunned if they paid enough attention to know it.

I, for one, am CERTAINLY no proponent of John McCain and I find the perfumed Wesley's comments bizarre, especially after having heard him talk about John Effen's physical and emotional courage whilst bravely enduring his 4-month, tracer-filled, combat stint in Viet Nam.

I saw Wesley on the tube today and he also LOOKED very bizarre, as well...his eyes (underneath) were eerily baggy and white....I think he's on something.....

Wonder what Clarke thinks of JFK:

"Kennedy was the first president to serve in the Navy. Years later, when asked by a schoolboy in 1959, “How did you become a war hero?” he replied, “It was easy, they sunk my boat.”"

Yeah...I wonder if he said something as stupid as what he did on purpose...Most any military personnel would know the difference between an attack aircraft and a fighter aircraft...Not too many serious military personnel would call a pilot someone who “rides” in a plane....

Well, President George Bush Sr. was a downed pilot. Maybe the Weasley Cluck would like to go tell Bush Sr. his opinions on that. Oh, and, uh, he should bring his dentist.

Of course...not too many military personnel would have the attitude and demeanor that Clark has....

Makes you wonder if Ramsey and Wesley are “kissin’” kin???

JZelle...

I was just getting ready to ask if the late Col. David Hackworth might have been looking at Wesley Clark when he commented on a “Perfumed Prince”????

We think alike, I see...

What an a@@. McCain was not riding in a fighter plane. And to qualify to fly a fighter plane is extremely hard and takes lots of training. This machine takes loads of concentration and exceptional intelligence. Few make it. Ever look at a panel in one?

Whoops, I meant an attack plane. Mission assignment is much different but attack planes suffer the same problem of being attack by ground missiles as fighter planes. As far as I am concerned, the attack assignment of this type of work is more dangerous than a fighter plane. Altitude difference is one factor.

On June 12, 1999, in the immediate aftermath of NATO’s air war against Yugoslavia, a small contingent of Russian troops dashed to occupy the Pristina airfield in Kosovo. Clark was so anxious to stop the Russians that he ordered an airborne assault to confront these units-an order which could have unleashed the most frightening showdown with Moscow since the end of the Cold War. But British General Michael Jackson, the commander of the NATO international force K-FOR, told Clark: “Sir, I’m not starting WWIII for you,” when refusing to accept his order to prevent Russian forces from taking over the airport.

After being rebuffed by Jackson, Clark, according to various media reports at the time, then ordered the American Admiral James Ellis to use Apache helicopters to occupy the airfield. Ellis didn’t comply either. Had Clark’s orders been followed, the subsequent NATO-negotiated compromise with the Russians might well have been undermined.

Not only that, but his actual statement: "Well, I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president," attempts to denigrate and mask McCain's role as a pilot by suggesting he was "riding" in a plane, and getting shot down suggests that he somehow did something wrong. This is just disgusting.

I'll freely admit that McCain is not my preferred Republican for President but I respect his service, he knew there was always a chance that he could be shot down, captured, tortured and inflicted with life long injuries and disabilities, and that's exactly what happened to him. As Gunnery Officer Hartman said in 'Full Metal Jacket', "he's got guts, and guts is enough!"

[mkj note: I cannot believe I am defending John McCain after despising the SOB for so long, but dammit there is too much at stake in this election to sit on my damn hands anymore!]

For a fellow veteran like Wes Clark (who was likewise wounded in Vietnam, and received the Silver Star) to suggest that McCain's military service does not qualify him to be President, what would he have said about Harry S Truman, who commanded an artillery battery in World War I? Or how about Ronald Reagan, whose eyesight prevented him from being shipped overseas, but served our Nation the very best he could in the 18th Army Air Force Base Unit as Personnel Officer, Post Adjutant, and Executive Officer, and produced over 400 training films for the Army Air Forces by the end of the War.

But I suppose that non-combat type of service wouldn't qualify Ronald Reagan in Wes Clark's world. If Clark was honest with himself, and if he were still wearing the uniform, he wouldn't have assigned Obama-lama-ding-dong even to latrine duty in the United States Army.

Oh wait, Obama never wore the uniform did he? Did he even register with Selective Service? Just one of the many questions still waiting to be answered about the Great Beige Hope.

I wonder how badly Barak Obama (or Ashley Wilks Clark for that matter) would wet their pants doing a night carrier landing?
