Blame Jane Fonda
self ^ | today | self

Posted on 06/18/2008 9:52:24 AM PDT by Mr. K

OK when do we hold JANE FONDA accountable for shooting her idiot mouth off and causing so many of the worlds biggest problems?

Look how many died in Vietnam after we pulled out? She was instrumental in deceiving the US. Her and John Kerry (did you know he was in Vietnam?) who was there for 3 months, got 3 purple hearts, and "committed atrocities"

And how about that stupid "China Syndrome" movie that convinced us all how EEEEEEEeeevil nuclear power was? We could have been a lot less dependant on foreign oil, and needed 2 less Gulf Wars (its all about OIL don'tcha know?) if it were not for her part in that.

Then there was those exercise videos- did we really need to see all those fat people in spandex???? I could have lived without that whole decade...

She’ll get hers.

If not in this life, then the next.

What burns me even more is that Jack Lemmon was part of that piece of cr*p.At least he had talent...if not a sense of decency. After all,you expect whoreish behavior from a known whore like Hanoi Jane.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about Jane Fonda. Unfortunately building nuclear power plants back then would have done nothing toward alleviating our current dependence on foreign oil. Nuclear power plants generates electricity. Crude oil is refined into gasoline. Currently most of our electricity is generated by burning natural gas, which we have plenty of here in the USA, and more being discovered everyday (probably due to abundant quantities being located on non-federal lands). The only way to alleviate dependence on foreign oil is to drill for it here.

Wow.

I didn’t know that.

You’d think he’d have mentioned it or something.

What I don’t understand is how Fonda and Lemmon knew there would be a meltdown at Three Mile Island the same year The China Syndrome was released. Of course, the movie was probably made before the meltdown occurred in 1979.

Did they in any way cause the problem at Three Mile Island to get more publicity for their film? Hard to believe someone could be that evil, but they’re liberals.

I live about twelve miles from TMI, in case you were wondering about my healthy glow, and according to every nuclear engineer I have talked to, there was no meltdown, and there was no gas bubble, at least in the reactor. There *were* after all, a lot of reporters around.

Well you see, thy had this time travel machine that looks a lot like one of those DeLoreans. But what I’m not sure about yet is whether they traveled forward and saw TMI would happen so they came back and made a movie, or whether they made the movie and then time traveled to sneak into TMI to botch things up. I’ve got my crack time travel investigators working on it.

Three Mile Island was an example of a system that WORKS. It did what it was supposed to do, despite all the publicity to the opposite.

Here is what Wikipedia says about it:

The accident began on Wednesday, March 28, 1979, and ultimately resulted in a partial core meltdown in Unit 2 of the nuclear power plant (a pressurized water reactor manufactured by Babcock & Wilcox) of the Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania near Harrisburg.

...

It resulted in the release of a significant amount of radioactivity, an estimated maximum of 13 million curies of noble gases (480 PBq), but under 20 curies (740 GBq) of the particularly hazardous iodine-131, to the environment.[1] However, there are no immediate deaths or injuries to plant workers or members of the nearby community which can be attributed to the accident.

Once I went into a bar for a couple of beers. Soon after I had to recycle them, went in to the john, got out Mr. Winkie and seen this.

I have been ruined ever since.

“China Syndrome” was an exciting movie. A lot of people back then had concerns about where and how nuclear waste would be stored and the safety of the facilities. - The nuclear industry sent out public relations teeny bopper cuties with absolutely no scientific credentials to charm the public into accepting nuclear power. A very pretty and very young woman in our family was one of them. - When I asked how nuclear waste was going to be stored and where, she blew me off with a condescending chide that went something on the order of the following: “Oh, they don’t know yet exactly what they’re going to do with the nuclear waste, but they’re sure they’ll figure it out when the time comes. You DO want your children to have the conveniences that YOU have, don’t you?” I reiterated my initial question, but she just blew me off like I was some sort of an ignoramus.

If the nuclear industry is serious, next time, they’ll send out competent scientists with legitimate credentials to do their PR work. Of course, it’ll be an easier sell now.

I did not march in protest of nuclear power plants, nor did I lie down in front of bulldozers at proposed sites or campaign in any way against them, and I was under the impression that they had proceeded with the planned nuclear power plants back at that time - although I feel sure this woman will blame my sort for them not building them.
