Mark June 18th on your calendar.
That’s the day the National Press Club in Washington, DC will give centre stage to the man behind one of the sleaziest smear campaigns ever perpetrated against a US presidential candidate.
Larry Sinclair has for months been blathering on his blog and in a YouTube video that Barack Obama has a dark secret his supporters wish would just go away. He says Obama likes to sleep with men.
Difficult to do, but in case you missed it, here’s a little rundown of his claims:
* Barack Obama and Larry Sinclair had sex in a Chicago hotel room in late 1999 while Sinclair was on parole.
* Barack Obama supplied the cocaine and crack cocaine he smoked while Sinclair performed oral sex on Obama
* Donald Young, the gay choir director at Obama’s former church, contacted Sinclair in December, 2007 shortly before Young was murdered. Sinclair says Young told him he had a similar relationship with Obama.
* Sinclair now claims to be getting death threats; cancel the press conference or get shot.
With the possible exception of The Cleveland Leader which points out Sinclair failed a polygraph test, the mainstream press has completely ignored him. So has Barack Obama, but leading up to Wednesday’s presser and beyond, you have to wonder for how long he can hold off.
There have been so many rumours circulating about Obama and his wife - Obama’s a Muslim, Obama’s book contains racist remarks, Obama’s hiding his birth certificate, Obama’s wife has been seen on video calling people “whitey” from a church pulpit, and other trash - they’ve set up a website to fight the smears. They even ask readers to send in new rumours they’ve heard so they can address them.
What’s notable is they still have yet to mention Sinclair. But with more than 1.25 million hits on the Sinclair blog and hundreds of thousands having seen the YouTube video, they can’t deny nobody’s heard of it.
A number of prominent liberal blogs have said the National Press Club is simply feeding the troll by taking Sinclair’s 3000 bucks and booking his room. Thousands have already signed a petition asking the NPC to cancel the event.
I hope the press conference is held and I hope Obama does get around to Sinclair. There’s a risk that the ranks of Sinclair’s deluded fans and followers will grow in giving this guy the limelight, but if you’ve set up a website to counter rumours and allegations only to ignore the worst, it will be viewed as running away from the issue or pretending it doesn’t exist. Obama has to defend himself.
Besides, Sinclair may be renting a pulpit and floor space and hoping the cameras and scribblers show up, but he must know that going to the press is a double-edged sword. If they do decide to run with this story, playing up Sinclair’s dubious past is the most likely angle they’ll take. Sinclair’s police wanted poster on charges of theft and forgery will surely be included.
But if the world does turn out to be flat and Sinclair’s allegations somehow prove to be true, Obama should be shunned and banished from the stage forever, but not for taking drugs and having gay sex. What country on earth would want to have as its leader someone with such horrible taste? Have you watched that video? Surely if Obama was bent in that direction and could have his pick of lovers and rent boys, he could do one hell of a lot better than Larry Sinclair.
This would probably IMPROVE Obama’s image with liberals.
Either way, true or false, the MSM will declare Obama a saint.
The gay part maybe. Not so sure about the coke though
The media never shyed away from rumors about Mark Foley or that toe tapper being homosexuals.
Long before those scandals that drove them from office broke, the Left had been running such accusations in print and online for YEARS.
So why is The Golden Child supposed to be immune from such dirt?
Obama has already admitted to the cocaine use.
What has not been addressed was if he ever dealt coke or smoked crack.
The polygraph testers asserted that Larry Sinclair was deceptive on two questions.

I think the most important issue is Young, because if he claimed a relationship with Obama and was murdered...who and why? Sinclair has received death threats, and from whom? Why? If there is no truth to either of them claiming to have had sex with Obama, then why not just ignore them...it does make you wonder?

This is not even a rumor either. It is a direct accusation by a guy who allegedly participated, who has signed multiple legal documents -including an affidavit to the Chicago PD - that his story is true, and who is willing to do whatever it takes to get the story out.
If this was a Bush accuser, he’d have been front page across every MSM outlet in the world by now, and David Gregory would be frothing at the mouth about it in every Dana Perino press conference.
Two questions during a multi hour interview. Perhaps the outfit that did this test will release the entire interview, since they recorded it on video, with the agreement it would be released in its entirety. Still waiting...

1. Obama's real name is "Barry Mohammad Dunham".
2. Obama had sex with Larry Sinclair.
3. Obama's wife rants against "whitey" on a tape.
4. Obama is not eligable to be U.S. president.
These are some awfully bad smears this early in the race.
# 1. Sinclair has as much right to hold his press conference and say what he likes as anyone else, whether one agrees with him or thinks what he has to say is false or not. Its the left that keep screaming about first amendment rights..that is until someone has something bad to say about anyone from the left...then they want to turn America into Stalinist Russia, and shut people up. Not gonna happen. This is America.
# 2. Michael Moore is an even sleazier, more disgusting individual than Sinclair ever was, and his Fahrenheit 9/11 has more lies than any so-called “documentary” ever shown is movie houses in this country. That still didn't prevent most liberals from believing his lies 100%, nor did it prevent the lame brain media from giving his fraudulent movie 24/7 coverage all the way to the November elections. So don't let me hear any liberals whine about so-called “smears”. Liberals live on smearing Republican candidates with every outrageous lie known to man. Even as we speak Rosie O'Donnell's is till peddling her “Bush bombed the WTC” lies, and she did that everyday on her mainstream media TV program for years, with no worries whatsoever.
# 3. It's irrelevant if the MSM give Sinclair's allegations any publicity or not. The MSM totally ignored the VERY TRUE allegations of the Swift Boat heroes as well....until they used alternative means to get their messages to the American people, by writing a book which sold over a 1 million in very short time. Today, thanks to Youtube, conservative blogs, conservative talk radio, Sinclair has already been able to get his massage to millions. If he is determined enough, he will get his message to even more millions before he elections, MSM coverage or not. The MSM's power and influence continues to go down every election cycle.
#4. Obama’s so-called anti-smear site has yet to deny that Obama met or knows Sinclair.
Let Sinclair have his say. If he is lying, the story will go nowhere. If he did indeed met Obama, the truth will come out.

The distinguishing thing about Burkett wasn't his persistence or persuasiveness, rather that he chanced to get through to the willing ears of Mapes and through her Rather.
Any story that can only be corroborated by the dead must, ipso facto, draw deep skepticism.
And while a careless libel of a Republican president might be overlooked (Rather and Mapes choked on the cover up) being implicated in something like memogate aimed at a black Democratic contender is a guaranteed career ender.
