Also, note the double standard in treatment by the police. She's drunk and abusive and slams the door in the cop's face, and the cop says he left because--get this--she "didn't want me on her property anymore." No kidding. One thing's for sure--men who are reading this, don't try that stunt on a cop yourselves.

I doubt it. It is not against the law to be drunk in your home.

This writer appears to be a hack hired by Bill Murray.

That jumped out at me too. I don't know if a double standard towards sex was the root of it but I've never heard of anyone getting the cops to go away like that.

It's easy. Ask the cop if he has a warrant for your arrest. He/she won't or they wouldn't be asking to speak with you. When it is obvious they don't, tell them to get off of your property and shut the door. Never, ever, allow them inside without a search warrant or step outside "for officer safety". Tell them if they don't feel safe, they can leave; and then shut the door.

That’s true. I hadn’t looked at it that way. Don’t they have probable cause when it’s a domestic disturbance situation and just come on in?

The article did not mention a "domestic disturbance".

There are some states which basically mandate the the cops take someone into custody on a domestic violence type complaint, but I would suspect that many of them might be unconstitutional if properly challenged. Where is the probable cause absent some physical injury?

March 17, St Patties Day:

Oh, he doesn’t smell like Irish Spring,
And he never taught me anything,
But still I slap my chest and sing -
Of My Drunken Irish Dad.

Oh, his face looks like a railroad map,
And he never shuts his freakin’ trap...
But all the ladies catch the clap
From your Drunken Irish Dad.

Ask a Hennessey, Tennessey, Morrison,
Shaughnessy, Reardon, and Rooney...
They’ll tell you the same
McNulty, Mulrooney, and Connor and Clooney,
All feel the same mixture of pride and of
shame.

Finnegan, Hannigan, Kelly, and Flanagan.
Look to the ground while their dad passes by
Cafferty, Rafferty, Joyce and O’Lafferty,
Fight for his honor and then start to cry!

Oh, we Irish lads are all infirm,
And our moods infect us like a germ
‘Cause we’re all the spawn of a pickled sperm...

- (And we don’t tan well either...) -

...From a Drunken Irish Dad!!

LOL.

Or, sounding ahead of their time,

The article did not mention a "domestic disturbance".

The article is typically sparse on details. But it does start with this...

The trouble started after a witness saw her shouting loudly at one of her kids, the report said.

Pretty thin IMO but the next thing they discover for themselves is that she's very intoxicated.

Where is the probable cause absent some physical injury?

I agree and I'm not supporting the idea that they ought to have the authority to barge right in without a strong cause. I just thought that they do with the blessings of the courts.
