Saturday, June 07, 2008 Who in the hell is behind $5 gas?
For several decades, the Democratic Party has pursued policies designed to drive up the cost of petroleum, and therefore gas at the pump. Remarkably, the Democrats don't seem to have taken much of a political hit from the current spike in gas prices. Probably that's because most people don't realize how different the two parties' energy policies have been.

Flopping Aces: Placing Blame For The Price of Gas
This is some damning information that should be shared with every newspaper and voter in this country.
As a counter point what have the GOP done to remedy this???????
While the price was lower there were plenty of forecasts about the increase in demand coming.
The policies espoused by Democrats, with the aid of their “environmentalist”, lead directly to higher gasoline prices. And as the latest snub at the consumer, they won’t even go for a moratorium on the federal gas tax.
This article is a bit short in the reality department.

Americans get the oil and gas prices they deserve.
“Probably that’s because most people don’t realize how different the two parties’ energy policies have been.”
Just another huge example of what a handicap it is having a president who cannot clearly and firmly articulate the policies he supports, and the harm done by the policies advocated by the Dems. There are tremendous political points to be scored now explaining how the Dems. have made it impossible for the US to bring significant new energy resources into the supply line. But few points are being scored for the Republicans.
And, in their great wisdom, some 38% of Republicans have nominated another candidate with little more ability to articulate policy differences and their consequences. Except the policy differences are even fewer if he wins. He’s made significant contributions to our current dependence on imported oil, and is more in line with the Dems. than with the Republicans on energy policy.
If I recall correctly, Al Gore said in, “Earth in the Balance” that $5 gas would be good for the environment.
At the time he said it, it was inconceivable.
Everyone’s talking about the price of gasoline. Well, I can work around that in a number of ways IF I have to. But, heating oil is a little different. Especially in northern states. It’s gonna be a matter of life and death for many people this winter AND no one’s talking about it!!! And, no one will care because the election will be over......
Yeah, that’s kind of funny seeing the ululators protesting our economic life blood. They should build a huge coal to liquids plant there.
That is really a very absurd statement coming from you with your unwavering faith in the myth of "Peak Oil". It would seem you might want to have a professional check your own grasp of reality before your start criticizing anyone else's.
Have you read ‘The Prize’?
Anyone here paying any attention to what is going on in DC or are Freeper all to busy bitching about the GOP to learn anything anymore?
If they want to lower their gas and energy prices, then they should vote for the Republican candidates in the elections.
I’m sorry your find the truth so disturbing.
You know, I worked on the TransAlaska Oil Pipeline construction and the development of Prudhoe Bay. I might have noticed or heard something along the way.
To put some reality into the conversation, someone needs to detail just how much oil we can realistically expect to get from ANWR or the OCS and other domestic sources, both in terms of billions of barrels, and in terms of millions of barrels per day of production. And how long it will take to bring these online.
I suggest you 1st step might be to read more of these Energy threads and post much much less. You seem hell bent on ignoring all facts that challenge your personal opinions.
