Jim Henley assesses the complete and utter failure that was the Ron Paul campaign for the Republican presidential nomination:
Paul failed to win any states, to move the GOP debate in his direction, to accrue significant delegates or to leverage his fund-raising into a third-party run. And word is hes staying quiet about endorsing an independent because he doesnt want the Congressional GOP leadership to strip him of committee assignments come the fall. Paul accomplished the one thing hes always been good at: using political appeals to get people to send money. I dont feel freer.
But other than that, he did a super job. Revolution!
And word is hes staying quiet about endorsing an independent because he doesnt want the Congressional GOP leadership to strip him of committee assignments come the fall.
Bet them ‘earmarks’ weren’t to far out of Paul’s thoughts either......
Why would anyone think its a bad thing to keep some of the tax money the federal government is devouring in their own district?
I am appalled at the so-called conservatives who think the feds own the money and the only thing they allow us to do is earn it for them.
I know you will stand proud as one of these three high flying socialists drag America into the shi**er. Are you cheering for Hussein or Hillary or the open border RINO?
Why would anyone think its a bad thing to keep some of the tax money the federal government is devouring in their own district?
I have no idea but I’d bet that Paul has that in the back of his mind if and when he’s planning to jump the shark come the general. And if he does I hope they strip him of every position he has come the next Congres.
- He raised over $35 million last year, all of it from individual contributions, and he raised more money than all of the other GOP candidates in the 4th Quarter
- He continues to attract hundreds at speaking engagements and has a loyal base of supporters
- The falling dollar, the federal reserve, non-interventionism and a return to Constitutional principles are all in the news now thanks to Paul
- He was the only GOP candidate that was attracting young voters and those who have been ignored by the Stupid Party (small l-libertarians)
- He raised some valid points about our foreign policy (I disagree with him on the war against Islamofascism though)
- His supporters are not going to support McCain or the GOP, so go ahead and laugh at him but don't complain when McCain loses by a few percentage points
You know, if it werent for his cut and run on the WOT, softness on criminals, softness on drugs, opposition to the border fence, blaming America for 9-11, racist and conspiracy theory newsletters, and general support by a myriad of conspiracy theory and white supremacist fringe, he might have had a chance.
The only thing Paul was wrong on was the WOT.
He opposed the border fence because of property-rights issues for the landowners there. He still opposed amnesty, and opposed freebies and anchor baby status for illegals. Does McCain, Rudy, Huckabee, Fred Thompson, Romney and the rest of GOP opposes these?
Softness on criminals? What are your examples?
Softness on drugs? He would turn drug policy over to the states and let them set the laws. He would end this disastrous war on drugs.
Never blamed America for 9/11.
Racist? ROFL. Unlike the GOP and most conservatives, he sees people as individuals, not as groups with a sense of entitlement.
Conspiracy theory newsletters? More ROFL that's been debunked way back in 1996.
Hey Pauls message is premature. We dont need wheelbarrows yet for our money nor started the draft to be world policeman. Just wait until Obama invades Africa without Declaration of War and the GOP will get that old fashioned Constitutional religion.
Why not have the balls to just openly support Marxist Obama instead of hiding behing anti war nut jobs like L Ron Paul and Bobby “ACLU” Barr
You and I have already debated all those issues and I firmly hold each of my comments with one exception. I will concede that he may not be the racist and conspiracy nut as depicted in the many years of newsletters published under his name if you will agree that instead he is incredibly incompetent for letting them be published. I’m happy with either choice.
Other than that I don’t have the time now to find and copy each of the specifics and sources as I did a few months ago substantiating each of my opinions.
[singing] ah low ha oh way, al low ha oh way...
“Why would anyone think its a bad thing to keep some of the tax money the federal government is devouring in their own district?”
So it’s ok to use taxpayer’s money to renovate a PRIVATELY OWNED movie theater?
Show me the provision in the Constitution where it’s the federal government’s job to market wild shrimp from Texas.
“open border RINO”
Oh you must be talking about the two-faced lying hypocrite “representing” the 14th Congressional District of Texas.
“The only thing Paul was wrong on was the WOT.”
No, that is NOT the only thing he’s wrong about.
“He opposed the border fence because of property-rights issues for the landowners there. He still opposed amnesty, and opposed freebies and anchor baby status for illegals.”
Were you not the one who swore up and down that our borders are “international territory”? And that’s a nice little excuse for his “opposition”
You forgot to mention that he wanted to almost triple the H1B visa quota.
“Softness on criminals? What are your examples?”
He’s opposed to tougher laws against pedophiles for one.
“Softness on drugs? He would turn drug policy over to the states and let them set the laws. He would end this disastrous war on drugs.”
BS
“Never blamed America for 9/11.”
Yes he has:
“Have you ever read about the reasons they attacked us? They attacked us because we’ve been over there, we’ve been bombing Iraq for ten years.”
That’s an exact quote from your pet village idiot himself.
“Racist? ROFL. Unlike the GOP and most conservatives, he sees people as individuals, not as groups with a sense of entitlement.”
Unlike the GOP and most conservatives? Let’s see some examples of GOP/conservative racism.
“Conspiracy theory newsletters? More ROFL that’s been debunked way back in 1996.”
Got proof?
“Why not have the balls to just openly support Marxist Obama instead of hiding behing anti war nut jobs like L Ron Paul and Bobby ACLU Barr”
Because their masters on the Politburo told them not to do so.
Nope, the old coot from AZ.
