Almost completely ignored and forgotten are the Cold Warriors who spent endless hours living in tiny capsules underground in the ICBM sites, the men who lived in mall metal cylinders silently gliding hundreds of feet beneath the ocean waves, and the men who sat in alert facilities around the world just yards from their cocked aircraft.

These men and all the maintenance personnel who risk their lives (some gave their lives) to keep the Soviet Bear at bay.

God bless them all.

You are absolutely right!
Thank you for your service and it’s part in keeping our country free.
And for making that point.
We take so much of this for granted.
And, our kids learn almost nothing - even concerning the most visible facets and activities of the services which have sustained their freedom.
Think of the resistance that would ensue - from teachers - at the very suggestion that students tour an AF base and learn - from them - something of their duties and history.

We need to take back the schools, if the traditions of service are to be maintained!

Best and G-d Bless!
