Barack Obama gave a commencement speech at Wesleyan University the other day. Pinch hitting for Teddy Kennedy who out sailing on his yacht, he peppered the speech with references to other Kennedys who had gone before. Adding to the list of things we cannot say about Obama, we cant compare him to Robert Kennedy, but he can and does.
It will be remembered by people who have been following the Jeremiah Wright controversy that Wright denounced middle classism in no uncertain terms all the while having a $1.6 million, 4 bedroom 10,000 square foot house built for him in a gated community.
In an echo of Wrights denunciation of middle classism Obama
...urged students to focus on more than "the big house and the nice suits and all the other things that our money culture says you should buy."
The idea that there is something unique in our money culture that causes people to want to have the good things of life is stupid. And hypocritical.
With the possible exception of hermits and certain religious orders that take a vow of poverty, all people everywhere strive to have the good things in life. Poorer societies define good things down.
In Haiti, eating cakes not mixed with mud is considered a step up. In other third world hellholes...(read the rest)

If the American people were stupid enough to let Obama have his way, the entire United States would be a third world hellhole.
That's what this Marxist nutcase and his angry wife have in mind for us.
Ahem. Cough cough.
Really, the man didn't speak because he's just been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Was that cheap shot really necessary?
We've lost sight of the fact that we are one another's brothers' and sisters' keepers in this nation. We have to prepare to sacrifice something big for the greater good. In order to do that, you have to feel some faith and trust and inspiration in our leadership. I don't think there's anyone else in this race who's going to be able to unify this country, who's going to be able to change the way politics is done, who's going to bring people together who never thought they had anything common before and who's going to do it in a way that's decent and honest. That man is my husband, Barack Obama.
BO Yesterday: we must be prepared to ... be unified in service to a greater good."
Someone needs to ask BO to describe in detail what he means by the "greater good" and what will have to be sacrificed to attain his imagined nirvana. Freepers know exactly what he means. But there are a bunch of mush brains out there who don't and they are falling for his socialist snake oil!
Sorry....I believe that's on the list of things we can't ask him about.
When speaking of "the greater good" one must understand that when robbing Peter to pay Paul, one can always count on Paul's cooperation.
In my day the "big house" was prison. This is just another example of Obama's hypocrisy. I guess he forgot to mention to those students his sweetheart real estate deals with criminal Tony Rezko. Do as I say, not as I do.
Boo Hoo
Actually, before I commented I did look up whether or not he’d been out on the water since the diagnosis. (but I can’t get your link to work).
But, as a cancer survivor, and someone who is building a ministry to men with cancer, I can see the logical choice of not wanting to give a public address, but choosing to enjoy a favorite passtime.
The article could’ve been written without that comment (and in my opinion would be a bit more credible). That’s all I’m sayin’.
Your knots may vary.
I am not taking pleasure in Kennedy's illness. At the same time I see no need to pretend that one of the most liberal, despicable (he is the one for whom “Borking” was named) and immoral people (see Mary Jo Kopechne) in public life should become the subject of hagiography when he is diagnosed with cancer. I can understand your identifying with him because you share a disease. And I agree that he probably preferred to be on his yacht instead of sitting around at a commencement ceremony. Which is exactly what I said.
I tried my link and it works for me.
