Senator Wetback? You’re kidding, right? One open-borders jerk on the ticket is one too many. You want TWO?? Good grief.
In that case, my picks would be (in order): Sanford, Jindal, Pawlenty. I know Pawlenty's liberal on some issues, but I think he'd bring McCain much better prospects in midwestern states.
Full disclosure: I can't imagine voting for McCain no matter who's on the ticket with him.
Then why choose? Powell can vote for McCain and satisfy both of his political leanings.
I’ve heard those rumors, too, but even if sorry Charlie is not homosexual himself, he is pro-homosexual, I would say:
“Gay & Lesbian Publication ‘Watermark’ endorses Charlie Crist.......”

There’s gotta be a reason for that. :)
Lieberman won't be McCain's running mate, but I give him high chances for either SecState or SecDefense, which wouldn't be a bad thing.
Fred Thompson—strongest federalist, strong on immigration, WOT, Social Security
JC Watts—true conservative & antidote to Obamanism
Duncan Hunter—Strong on immigration, WOT
Steve King—look him up, you’ll be impressed, Midwestern
Jim DeMint—VERY conservative!
Haley Barbour—Hero of Katrina, competent, executive experience, ran RNC, good lever puller
General David Petraeus—OBVIOUS
Steve Forbes—Economic knowledge w/o Mitt’s baggage, Flat Tax
Sheriff Joe Arpaio—strongest anti-illegal official in USA
Bobby Jindal—10 years executive experience, still young, “next Ronald Reagan” says Rush.
Powell is as bad as McCain!
John Bolton would be great, but do you see McCain asking him?
“At this point, I dont think it much matters. My vote didnt count, did yours?”
Individually our votes don’t count, but we might affect others to vote if we write editor’s letters, call talk shows, post on FR, etc..
I know, we did that with Duncan Hunter, but that doesn’t mean we should give up.
Agreed...maybe worse. But if I were advising McCain's campaign and my sole objective was to win, that's who I would be pursuing.
Good post. I REALLY like Gov. Palin.
‘Governor Palin.
That would be the most logical thing for McCain to do. At least wed have someone pleasant to look at for 4 years.”’
LOL!!!!
Great, but doubtful. Also IF Hunter was brought into the Administration, what would that do to his congressional seat and commitee? Would it be better for him to stay in Congress?
My pick is Jindal out of all these.
Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt. Literally.
“I oppose McCain, so I do not care who he picks. FLs gov is a moron and should not be allowed within 1,000 miles of the Oval Office, this because of his anti off shore drilling.”
I agree with you about Charlie Crist, and he is a BAD NEWS on so many counts.
I care who he picks, because sometimes VP’s become P’s, plus if McCain picks a CONSERVATIVE VP running mate, it tells me that he will also possibly pick originalist judges.
“Bobby Jindal is someone I want to vote for, for PRESIDENT. I do not want to waste him in the VP spot. I would like to see him work in LA and do some fix-up there (which would be a Herculean task), and then take that resume and run for President in 2012.”
Good thoughts, but I’m worried IF McCain wins, the VP he picks could go on to be POTUS, and I would hate that to be a liberal.
“Any reason John Bolton couldnt be considered? Also Pawlenty not listed.”
I’d love Bolton, but I’ve never seen him on any of McCain’s “short lists.”
Pawlenty is too moderate for me, but he is way better than Charlie Crist or Lieberman.
He doesn't have to decide till the last second, and probably shouldn't. In the meantime, these Memorial Day invitations have served to get some of the news attention away from the Democrats.

Thanks for your list, and the reasons why you like them. That’s what I’m looking for from my fellow FReepers.
