“As long as the Republicans in Congress pay lip service to conservatism while voting like liberals, they deserve to lose in November.”

Deserves repeating.

If McCain wants the support of conservatives, now and through November, then he needs to do what every politician seeking the support of any given voting bloc routinely does, and meet their specifically vocalized needs to such an extent as to earn said support.

As the recent outpouring of raw, naked outrage on the NRCC web site makes both manifest and plain: insofar as the voting conservative base is concerned, he demonstrably has not done so.

Responsibility for the adamant rejection of John McCain by the conservative voting bloc, therefore, rests ultimately with the unsatisfactory candidate, and he alone.

It does no good whatsoever to hop up and down like so many amphetamined spider monkeys, agitatedly shrilling "OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMAOBAMAOBAMA!!!," as Barack Obama is not running as the Republican candidate for the presidency this year; McCain is. He either closes the deal himself, based on his ability to persuade conservatives what he himself has to offer them (if anything)... or: he does not.

Republicans know exactly what they are doing. Those who say the GOP doesn't get it are the people who don't understand. The GOP’s agenda is to expand it's voter base by appeasing the socialist left and conservatives be damned.

Congress should run against Obama. Just replay Obama’s recent rant about the necessity of getting rid of SUV’s, not having the thermostat set at 72 and so forth. Heady and powerful stuff in certain Congressional districts.

Play up no drilling in Anwar, no nuclear power, no use of coal and so on down the line. Especially, in states where these issues count—Alaska, etc. Also, run against ethanol and earmarks with appropriate statements from RAT congress people.

The most recent example is the disastrous farm bill that the Senate passed overwhelmingly.

Just more evidence that the once-vaunted RINO Party still doesn't get it. The party of the big spending RINO's needs to douche its current crop of so called leader(less)s or simply rename their party as the official RINO Party, a division of the Socialist Democrat Party.

Contrary..I’m afraid that THEY DO get it...its us that don’t..

In my mind, I keep coming back to what happened to Tom Delay.....

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1802383/posts

Washington is so jammed with parasites looking for a teat...that ANY organized opposition-IOW any Conservatives-will be run out of town . Period. This, folks, is a far BIGGER problem than just one with the Republican leadership.

Pay attention the the Farm Bill that just passed. Its not the average American Joe that is demanding handouts that’s driving the bus here.

It’s any large organization that has the cash to buy a few K St. lobbyists to twist congress’ arm. The boys on Capitol Hill that are unresponsive to said arm twisting...well these organizations can afford to make sure they’re replaced in the next election cycle-and in fact, with what the new boys will send them legislatively will far more than make up for the cost of replacing a recalcitrant congresscritter. We American’s have a far bigger problem on our hands here than any of us could possibly imagine in our worst nightmare.

In other words....the corporate money driving this scam is so great and powerful...that politicos feel the need to play ball. Or else.
