The New Republic has just published one of the most devastating critiques of Obama I have read, and it's by a Liberal Black man. Subtitled The black case for Obama-skepticism it asks the question why 90% of black people support Obama and why 10% do not.
Ninety percent of black Democrats support Barack Obama. So that might leave an observer wondering: What the hell is up with that other 10 percent? Are they stupid? Do they hate their own race? Do they not understand the historical import of the moment? ... ...once you stare past the radiant glow surrounding Obama and begin to study the exact reasons for his so-called racial transcendence, you can't help but conclude that it is mostly hokum. Why do black people love Obama? In large part, it's because of the dark-skinned woman on his arm. Black people (especially black women) are nuts for Michelle. Had Barack married a white woman, his candidacy would've never gotten off the ground with black people.

It is becoming apparent that Obama may be the slickest - and crookedest - political operative since Bill Clinton.
To: moneyrunner
But, while he remained silent about the allegations of racism, he gave speeches across South Carolina that warned against being "hoodwinked" and "bamboozled" by the Clintons. His use of the phrase is resonant. It comes from a scene in Malcolm X, where Denzel Washington warns black people about the hidden evils of "the White Man" masquerading as a smiling politician: "Every election year, these politicians are sent up here to pacify us," he says. "You've been hoodwinked. Bamboozled."Well, he got that right.

90% blacks favor him? Oh I get it, its now a white - black issue.

After they were already murdered.

Must be a black thang, 'cause I sure don't get it. ...Not necessarily.
I am a Black woman and for one, cannot stomach the incessant bitter vitriolic bile that comes from Michelle Obama's mouth. It sickens me that someone who makes six figures as an Administrator at a major medical facility in Chicago can have the audacity to say the things she's said out on the campaign trail. If you believe what she tells you, this country's headed straight to H*ll in a hand basket.
...Of course that will be the case if her husband is elected our next President.

T Lady, I appreciate your perspective. (I am a white male) Have you been able to convince any of your contemporaries of your view of the Obamas? How does the rest of your family feel? I think it is a very sad commentary that skin color seems to trump all else in regards to choosing a president. Are they so blind to not see the road to hell we are merging onto? Negotiating with suicide bombers that kill women & children by choice? Training their children to HATE from infancy?
It is my fervent hope that the "normal" & true Black Christian Churches will unite against the false prophets, Obama, Wright & now, Moss. Nice to have you here! You are a FReeper first here, so you ARE NOT in the minority!! Thank you, bL

I'm gratified by your comment. As a
blue-eyed devil, I'm happy to embrace Dr. King's precept that we judge a man by the content of his character. On that basis, I cannot support Obama. (In Obama's case though, it seems that Dr. King's maxim has been reduced to simply "Don't judge".)
Michelle was quoted more than a year ago saying "Barry could be shot while pumping gas just for being Black in America..." Statistically speaking, the rest of that sentence should be "...by another Black man", but of course that wasn't the implication she was trying to convey.

I don't believe that 90 percent of African Americans are receptive to Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, and Jeremiah Wright, just as I doubt that 90 percent (or even five percent) of Caucasians are receptive to David DuKKKe.

Obama's problems have nothing to do with the color of his skin, and everything to do with the content of his character (or lack thereof)
Put up someone like Thomas Sowell, and you will see just how quickly I can vote for a Black man.

Well, you could be knifed to death by Al Sharpton's followers just for being a Jew in Crown Heights; just ask Yankel Rosenbaum. Wait, you can't ask Yankel Rosenbaum, because he was knifed to death for being a Jew.

I'm pretty much in the minority when it comes to Obama Fever in my family and among some at my church (I haven't heard anything from my Dad yet, but sadly my Mother wants to see this guy elected--though God only knows why).
It's a sad day in America when most people are more concerned about what 'goodies' they can get from Uncle Sugar rather than how to better secure our borders and strengthen national security. Not to mention building a better future for our youth by cutting insane taxes and allowing hardworking successful people to pass on a better legacy to their families.
And this I place squarely at the feet of our Marxist-influenced Media, who will stop at nothing short of murder to get this inexperienced Arrogant Jimmy Carter Disciple into office.

T Lady, Why is it that you "get it," yet the majority of your beloved folk don't? Is it just a matter of education? Or is "white education" not to be trusted either?
Well, anyway. I'm grateful that the Conservative Movement has folks like yourself, who "get it!" God Bless - Go McCain! (ugghhh...) Beloved Levinite

Maybe I 'get it' because I no longer trust the MSM for information; the only media outlet outside of Conservative Talk Radio is Fox News.
Unfortunately, the consensus among many Blacks (or at least those I know anyway) is that Fox is a Republican Party Propaganda machine, Bush is evil, and CNN, BET, Black Newspapers (like San Diego's Voice & Viewpoint and the Monitor), and major network shows like ABC's The View are where you get 'the facts'.
But on the bright side, I do have a number of friends from church who believe and vote as I do, and understand the spiritual and cultural consequences of voting for a political party whose platform often flies in the face of Christianity.
