“Stop whining like a liberal.”

You sounds like a nasty Communist: “Shut up and take it!”

If our founding fathers ever took that whimpy wet-noodle approach this country would never have been born. Go cower in a corner where you belong, the rest of us adult Americans will be upset when we are price gouged.

And you write rather ignorantly, don't you?

Gas was a quarter when I started driving in 1963. (Those were real quarters. The government didn't start counterfeiting quarters until 1965.)

The bridges to Long Island were also a quarter then. Today they are $5. Increase 20x.

Five weekday copies of the NY Times also cost a quarter in 1963. Today those five copies will cost you $6.25 (if you're foolish enough to buy them). Increase 25x.

A hot dog at a major league ballpark was also a quarter. Good luck finding one today for under five bucks. Increase 20x.

Some things cost more than a quarter.

The house I grew up in went for $36,500 in 1967. Last year teardowns in that neighborhood went for $1.1 million. Increase 30x.

The Social Security Employer/Employee maximum in 1963 was $174. This year it's $6045. Increase 34x. (Think $8.50 for gas.)

Gas at $3.75 is a 15x increase. Of course, these things haven't increased really. It's the "dollar" that has decreased in value.

BTW, there was NO NEW YORK STATE SALES TAX in 1963. Today I think its eight per cent.

Open your eyes. The political class is screwing us, and they would rather divert the attention of the unwashed.
