elf-appointed Elder, South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, spoke out in Chicago this week on the Rev. Wright controversy.
Desmond Tutu believes that Wright says the things that all black Americans want to say...
The Chicago Tribune and LGF Quick Links reported:
"You are a crazy country," Tutu, 76, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984, said in an interview with the Tribune. "You're a country that has I think some of the most generous people I've ever come across in the world."
But he chided Americans for getting "very, very upset" with the pastor of Sen. Barack Obama, noting that Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. "may have said more crudely what, actually, almost every African-American would have wanted to say. I mean that is how they feel in your country, that race ... is a very, very real issue."
"And I think on the whole you keep trying to pretend it isn't," he added, noting the issue will haunt Americans until there is a way to talk honestly about race, such as holding a reconciliation forum.
Tutu, who headed South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission probing human-rights abuses under apartheid, was here to receive the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation's Lincoln Leadership Prize, presented by Oprah Winfrey.
Unlike in South Africa's apartheid era, he said, where blacks were treated as "nothing," in America, "You say to them, 'You're equal, and the sky's the limit.' And they keep bumping their heads against this thing that's stopping them from reaching out to the stars."
Ironically, Archbishop Tutu spoke about this racist glass ceiling while receiving the "Oprah Winfrey" Lincoln Leadership Prize.
So is it Wrights comments that the US created Aids that Tutu believes American Blacks believe in?
Yep it is a real issue. And anybody who feels like that about this country, has no business being President.
Tutu speaks for himself alone and likes what he hears himself say.
I didn’t realize this moron had also received the Nobel “Peace” Prize. That’s cool. Another wacky name to add to my list along with Arafat, Gore and Carter when I am mocking these Leftist buffoons.
Wonder how many more years they’ll have water/sewers, telephones etc etc in his country....Zim-bob-WEEE! here we come.....
At the risk of being branded a racist if “all black Americans” feel this way then hop your butts on a boat back to Africa or wherever and see how much better you can make the dark continent fill your needs. Africa is doing so well right now I dare say it could become a paradise under the leadership of the Wrights, Tuts, and Sharptons.
There needs to be a concerted effort by blacks that do not feel this way to get their opinion out or I can see some stereotyping of lumping all of them together in this rational and some backlash. These turds are only setting back what race gains have made over the last 100 years.
“Ironically, Archbishop Tutu spoke about this racist glass ceiling while receiving the “Oprah Winfrey” Lincoln Leadership Prize.”
HAhahaha..that “racist glass ceiling” must be pretty dang high. Don’t believe oprah has hit it yet.
Wonder if Michael Jordan, Clarence Thomas, Tiger Woods, etc. have hit that ceiling yet either.
Can you be a little more specific? Which elf appointed him?
He is actually reenforcing the argument that Obama knew what Wright was saying and shared his views.
If that is indeed what all blacks in this country would like to say (which isn’t true, see Sowell, Rice, Armstrong, Dr. Williams), then on behalf of whites in this country, I would like to say: STFU!
Then Desmond Tutu believes that all blacks Americans are racist. QED.
Obama is a black racist and attended a black racist church and attended that church for 20 years, and he is not fit to be a President of the USA, which is home to many nationalities.
Funnier’n hell how the “racism” comments keep coming from the desmonds, the als and the jesses. Done well by it, haven’t they.
Dang it, I forgot the jeremiahs and the baracks.
Or Colin Powell or Condi Rice or Supreme Court Justice Thomas.
Now we are going to let this South African race-baiter influence our election! Remember, his own country went down the tubes big time! God save us.
It’s a crazy country that cares what Desmond Tutu thinks about it.
Ummmm, Tutu, can we discuss YOUR country? The one descending into a new level of hell everyday? Slaughtering white farmers and raping women, carjackings so common they are selling anti-carjacking blast torches that can literally fry a person standing next to the car?
Want to talk about living in an insane country? Whites are fleeing (if they are smart) from the communist ANC run South Africa. Haven’t heard a peep from this nutjob about the atrocities in his own country at the hands of fellow blacks.
Given his current ravings--I blame this one...
