Hillary Clinton is to MSNBC what teenage girl-fights are to Fox News.
They're obsessed and preoccupied with her. They may know better -- the attention Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann give her may be focus-grouped to snag some demo we can't even imagine.
But we're obciously not hat demo: the endless speculation as to why she's still in the race: the ponderous surmising and apprising of her wile and guile is just bad teevee.
You don't know why she's still in the race, boyz? You think she (and Bill) are so self-deluded they don't know she's not going to get the nomination? And haven't known for several months?
What Hillary Clinton is doing is solidifying her impressive constituency and considerable power base in the Democratic party. As she should.
The people she represents -- white working class, Latinos, women -- are absolutely vital to beat the old guy in the Fall, and if Barack Obama can't win their support he (we) will fail utterly.
And Hillary is key to that effort.
After this incredible campaign... and after all the snide, slighting, masogynist, sexist bashing by the pundit class, the netroots, and MSNBC is over, you gotta admit: she's good!
For all the meta-rada about the new voters Barack has brought out, his failure to move the numbers in the established Democratic blocks she's hung onto handily is troubling. And Democrats know it-- at least the ones who don't have an Obama dog on the fire...
(The Republicans, forsaking their usual ogrish, right-wing type candidates, have given those Reagan Democrats McCain, the most someone palatable candidate they had. It gives them somewhere to go that's not ther slithy Romney or the goofy Huckabee. (Hucky Goofabee?) Despite he's a miserable, aged, warmonger who hates America, and may not be able to carry the Republican base, he was their most electable choice.
By staying in the race for every primary, Hillary Clinton, strengthens her position in the Democratic Party, and with the American electorate.
Even though she doesn't have the liberal base of the party, she's definitely a force to contend with.
Barack really needs Hillary to win, and he knows it. But there will be a price. We're not sure what that is yet, the vice presidency? senate majority leader? but we do know that the large groups of important voters who support her will benefit.
(We appreciate that such as Rachel Maddow, and David Gregory; Craig Crawford, Jonathan Alter, and a few other cable news habitues, have stayed analytical and reality-based about Hillary. Olbermann is so in the Obama bag, it's got really boring. We stopped watching the insufferable blabbermouth Chris Matthews and don't turn on Countdown until 25 after when the Hillary bashing is over. We learned long ago that falling in love with politicians is a fool's paradise. We want a Democrat who can win the presidency; so we've always greeted Obamania with skepticism that has nothing to do with the phony bullshit the Republicans have thrown against the proverbial wall about his associations, and loyalty. We have more or less supported Hillary, much to the disdain of some of our less discerning friends, and readers. For several months, we've believed Obama has had the nomination, and will support him gladly).
The Hillaryites are dialed into this fact better than anyone else.
Must admit that last part about Fox News is accurate..too accurate...
