There is voter intimidation is alive and well in the 12th District. I posted this last night about the 2006 election.
As an “outsider” volunteer I had the opportunity to talk to business owners, blue collar workers, white collar workers and those in between. When folks are rushing into the “Boot Murtha” rally in disguise saying they could not afford to be seen, while telling you about the look-outs that are posted around the block, you know there is more to their “loyalty” than meets the eye. Locals in Johnstown told me they supported the “Boot Murtha” idea, but we should not expect to see a large local turnout as it was simply too risky for them to be seen at the rally.
IMPO, after hearing many like comments, terrorist like tactics are alive and well in the 12th district. No, they may not be blowing things up, but fear and intimidation are being employed in a big way! Folks would talk to me, but in hushed whispers when there was no one around. Union thugs would stand and stare at us for long periods, waiting for us to cower in fear.
One lady, with a son about to be deployed, knew al-murthawi was scum, but was 100% convinced that her husband would lose his job if the scum ball lost the election. She contacted me a couple months after the election about her son and indicated that she had voted, but left the congresscritter box blank.
