Recently, in his continued effort to win Primaries, as if there is anything remotely like a Primary allowed for in the Constitution, Obama uttered words that make rational Americans cringe. He said that residents of small-town America cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who arent like them out of bitterness over lost jobs. It is as if we have nothing else to cling to! Some of us also cling to a ballot box as well. At one time, America was known as the Land of the free and home of the Brave. My, how things do change.
Obama neglected to mention that many of those who live in large urban centers tend to cling to their guns as well, although for different reasons. One very important distinction that Obama has omitted from his evaluation of Small Town Americans; Americans do cling to their religion first, before anything else. Their guns are secondary. He was right, we do cling to both regardless of how many political speeches, elite admonitions or enlightened alternatives are offered. Obama needs to brush up on this kind of thing before making such gaffs. His Church may be other centered, as weve heard from Rev. Wright but most Churches seek to instill a faith and reverence in the Creator and admonish Congregants to fulfill their obligation to their God. Not so with our government as of late.
Today, the government tends to judge right and wrong by an entirely different measuring stick than has been used in the past. Our government continues to discus whether same sex couples should marry each other as if it were a legitimate question. The tax burden as well as the code and tax criteria is a joke when compared to anything resembling common sense. In Congress, the corruption in terms of earmarks, graft, cronyism and behavior that approaches treasonous, is simply staggering. No wonder Americans cling to their Bible first, their guns second. Sometimes things are right, just because they are right. Our government, in their effort to social engineer the populace, seems to have forgotten that and allow perversion, non ethical behavior and corruption to grow and flourish. We pay them way too much to treat us with this kind of disregard.
Obama should not be admonished as severely as he has been over this recent gaff. He has proven himself a Socialist and from all appearances, neither he nor his wife has any particular fondness, much less love for the Country. If he is going to be taken to task so harshly, it should be because of his Anti American policies. Publishing a retreat timetable to give our enemies in Iraq, his re-distribution of wealth and his desire to absorb so much of the American economy and put it under government control are far more significant than talking down to Americans. The only candidate more distasteful than he, is Hillary. At least there is a youthful innocence that seems to accompany Obama. Hillary has always been crooked and intends to stay that way. Her quest is for selfish power and ambition. Her goals are inexcusable while his are utopian.
Obama was right to say things that display his innermost thoughts so that Americans can evaluate him as a potential Commander and Chief. Most people dont need to hear much more from he or Hillary as they have revealed enough of themselves and now, we know where they both stand. Most of us like America the way it has always been and dont need their kind of change.
Right now I am clinging to the ammo box. All the others are broken.
In some countries, that which is not specifically allowed is prohibited.
In the United States, that which is not specifically prohibited is allowed.
Looks like Obama's interpretation of small-town America's bitterness is influenced by the followers of bitter preachers, like Rev. Wright.
It is hard to distinguish the rampant gang violence and murder on the streets of small town America from the safe, crime free zones of the inner city. I am glad Obama pointed it out to us that we can do better without guns and religion because those things certainly breed violence in small town America. /sarc
