I was a strong Huckabee supporter. One of the reasons was his support of the Fair Tax (although that was not the only reason). I’m concerned that neither Senator McCain, nor the two democrats (no surprise) supports fundamental change in the tax system. If we eliminated the taxation of income, then the issue of capital gains taxation is moot. More to the point, we need to reduce the size of the government bureaucracy and the long arm of government into private lives. The IRS bureaucracy is the most Soviet-style of all the agencies of the Federal government. It’s time to do away with it. If Senator McCain would sign onto the Fair Tax, I would find it much easier to enthusiastically support him for president.
