Rush, Be Fair to Senator McCain
From Sea to Shining Sea ^ | 4/8/08 | Purple Mountains

Rush Limbaugh again today castigated the Republican nominee for president, Senator John McCain, this time for suggesting that the government should "do something" about the excesses of CEO pay compared to the pay of the average worker.

There were two things wrong with this: in the first plaee, John McCain in no way suggested government action in interfering with a company's right to determine the pay of its workers - including its chief executive. The only politicians running for president who have favored such action are Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

I think that's right; from what I saw, McCain was using 'the bully pulpit' to encourage shareholders to do something.

I’m on Rush’s side. It is none of McCain’s damn business how much the CEO of a company makes unless McCain is a MAJOR share holder - even then he should take it up with the board. If he does not own shares he should just keep his mouth shut and if he owns shares and does not like what the company is doing he should sell and that is the end of it.

It is also none of YOUR business either!!!

Sorry, but this is one conservative who doesn’t “...think that the disparity in pays is a national disgrace...”. I do think that the class-war topic is boo-bait for bubbas and best left for Dhimmis like obammy and the shriek.

McCain does himself no favors by inserting himself into this, and that is exactly why he does it. I’m surprised he has any feet left for all the times he has shot himself...

The way I look at it, if a former impeached president can make over #51 Million just for opening his mouth since he left the White House, why should any politician worry about what corporations are paying their executives who actually work and hire millions of Americans who pay taxes to keep these busy-body politicians employed and with other people’s money to play with.

On the other hand, McCain stood honorably yesterday with General Petraeus while republican Voinovich launched a cynical attack against him and his mission.

McCain should get credit when it’s due. He deserved it yesterday, and any talk show host should be honest about it.

I have never been a McCain supporter, and even now I’m waiting to see the VP candidate.

I think you’re willfully ignoring what McCain is saying. “Do something” is code for government intervention. McCain is a socialist who wants to limit CEO salaries because they are all evil. That is what he is implying with his statement. Rush is on the ball and I hope he continues holding socialist-lite McCain to the fire.

McCain was using 'the bully pulpit' to encourage shareholders to do something.

Johnny "Walker Red" McCain must be glad that shareholders of Hensley & Co. didn't "do something" about the multi-million dollar salary of his wife Cindy McCain, who became chairman of her father's $300 million Budweiser distribution company in 2000.
