Today April 5th Is My Birthday, I turned 77 Ken Hughes April 05, 2008

There´s a certain joy in living three quarters of a century [plus], it´s something not everyone can manage to do. There are exceptions of course there´s a lady in Detroit who just turned 113 and is still active. I have a sister kicking down the doors leading to 90. I have another sister and a brother in their mid 80´s, longevity in my family is the rule not the exception. I´m not sure why some live comparatively health lives beyond the norm and others suffer health problems at much younger ages. The general consensus is its life styles others say it´s genetic, I don´t believe ether of those theories.

I believe in the Endorphins swimming around in the fluids of our brains making us do both good and evil depending on the doors they open and close. Pamper the endorphins and life can be a very pleasant experience, piss them off and you´re toast, all sorts of bad thing can happen to you.

At age 75 my friends convinced me at my age I should be having some symptoms of ill health. I hadn´t been to a Doctor in over 55 years but the more they insisted the more I began to imagine aches and pains of old age. I think it´s called being psycho-ceramic [suffering from crackpot symptoms]

I made an appointment with Doctor Strangeglove assisted by Nurse Jiffy Lube to have the $ 3.99 quick fix physical. If you get the cheapest physical they only find cheap symptoms such as high blood pressure and mild cases of diabetes these things Medicare usually pays for and they are for those of us who only have Medicare. Full coverage Health Insurance will get you a cat-scans specialists and operations with long stays in a hospital and all sorts of expensive lifetime treatments.

I like Dr. Strangeglove he has a cretin irreverence for the medial profession. I think the only reason he became a Doctor was all the Motorcycle Mechanics classes were filled. I´m sure Nurse Jiffy Lube got her training in a Coca Cola bottling factory as a hand bottle washer.

This satire in no way diminishes the need for senior citizens to consult professionals in order to maintain good health. Doctors can only fix what´s broken and advise patients how not to break things. It´s up to the individual to develop an attitude consistent with good health, stay active eat moderately and healthy and above all keep a smile in your hearts and a pleasant word on your lips.

"Aging is all about attitude, youth is all about living"

He’ll be toast in twenty years if he remains in such a deep state of denial about his poor health. ;O)
