Predictions of record flooding along the lower Meramec River inspired many residents to load pickups and head for higher ground today, but the Valley Park mayor was urging his residents to stay put behind their new $49 million levee.

There is a park near the levee where everyone flies R/C airplane, helicopters and rockets. I hope it holds..
Is this area considered a Flood Plane, or is this truly just a fluke, getting this much rain? (Just askin’; don’t know the area.)

No, major flood plain. We are on a bluff, but everything else is lower. The road we take to Costco is closed. Now we will have to take the long way, its three ft over the road right now..
Yikes. I think I’ll take the occasional tornado and blizzard over rushing water.
