Edwards to Hillary's Rescue?
Talking About Politics ^ | March 17, 2008 | Gary Pearce

Posted on 03/17/2008 8:47:57 PM PDT by MitchellC

John Edwards helped save Bill Clinton a decade ago. Could he do the same for Hillary Clinton this year?

After his election to the Senate in 1998, Edwards went to Washington with zero experience in public office. He had barely voted, let alone served in office. He had spent most of his adult life in courtrooms. So he walks into the Senate, and the first order of business is … a trial! Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial.

Edwards immediately distinguished himself with a dispassionate and masterful summary of the facts, concluding that Clinton’s actions did not justify removal from office.

Arguably, his very election over Lauch Faircloth – an impeachment champion – helped turn the tide for Clinton.

Today, Hillary Clinton is locked in an increasingly desperate battle with Barack Obama. She badly needs to change the chemistry of the race. And Edwards, the third-place finisher, has not yet endorsed.

Word is that Edwards does not like the Clintons, but he thinks Obama is too weak to be President.

Suppose he were to say that publicly – and endorse Clinton?

The Clinton campaign has three messages now: She is ready to be commander-in-chief; she can fix the economy; and she can win in November.

No one in America could testify more powerfully to those three arguments than Edwards. No one could do more to boost Hillary. No one could do more to stop Obama’s march to the nomination.

The author is a NC Democratic insider.

At this point, I hope Edwards actually tries to save Obama and sanitize him enough to get him to the nomination. The current course of events might see Obama's campaign collapse, giving Hillary the nomination and the appearance of an acceptable moderate.

That message of hers, that she can fix the economy, drives me insane. Hillary, ready on Day One to stop the recession in its tracks and start the Clinton boom years going, and on Day two, she’ll turn her attention to ....

Sorry Gary but edwards isn’t going to save your shrillary. He’s proven himself the ultimate Dhimmicrat - feckless, clueless, and self-obsessed.

By the time he satisfies himself on which way the wind blows the race will be over. Sometimes indecision will kill you - sometimes it just makes you useless..

Of Course, women all over America are voting with their Ovaries - why not Edwards?

Even Ann Coulter can’t resist Hillary! She has to use her hatred of McCain to justify voting for Hildabeast. Its obviously a pathetic excuse because in no way McCain and Hillary are equals, but Coulter is too gutless to admit that her Ovaries are getting best of her.

Same goes for Greta Van Susteran. She too is all out Hillary mode.

Ovaries of the world Unite!

Hillary cannot catch Obama in the pledge count and thus, cannot win the nomination.

Hillary is actually going backward on the super-delelgate count and the pledge count.

Only the MSM fascination with the Clinton's is making this appear like a real race.

But how committed are the super delegates at this point, really? Do they have to commit the day of their state vote, or are they free to choose until the day of the convention?

If this Wright scandal sticks to Obama, we might see super delegates walk away.

This might hurt Obama in the general election, but from the polls it doesn't appear to be hurting him among democrats.

If anything, Hillary's plan to unconditionally withdraw from Iraq, no matter what the military says, will hurt her among so called 'Reagan' Democrats.

I did note that statement was not repeated on any of the nighttime talk shows and I think that is reason why.

The fact is if Obama is leading in the pledged delegates and Hillary somehow steals the nomination, she loses the Black and youth vote and the general election.

So getting the nomination will not mean a thing, if she cannot get it without offending the Blacks.

Voting for president based solely on gender qualifies some pretty good people. Margaret Thatcher and Condi Rice come immediately to mind.

It also equally qualifies others...Cindy Sheehan, Cynthia McKinney, and the cleaning lady that just picked up my trash can.

Given the choice, I think that I'd take the cleaning lady...I know that at least she'd be tough on illegals (she hates them, we yak occasionally when I'm working late).

Didn’t John Edwards spend six years campaigning in Iowa? I can’t believe that an endorsement from him for either candidate will make any difference!

And your point would be?

She doesn’t care about that. She knows she sure as hell can’t get elected if she’s not nominated. She’ll worry about “fixing” the black vote after she pulls the rug out from under BO.

We’re talking about the Clintons here, man. Jeez.

My point is that the Democrat Party is not going to commit political suicide by stealing a nomination away from a Black man.

The Clinton's may not care, but those who want to win the White House do.

Stop overestimating Hillary, if she were so smart, she wouldn't have lost this nomination to an unknown.

In fact, the only reason she is still around is due in large part to Rush urging Republicans to vote for her!

“Stop overestimating Hillary, if she were so smart . . .,”

I never said she was smart. She is devious, calculating, driven by ambition and totally insane for power.

We don’t need to argue about this. Let’s just say I think you are underestimating Hillary and we will soon know who is right.

And regardless of ALL that, I do believe that the longer both stay in the race the better off we are.
