I poked at your name and found rather a lot under it. That is going to take me a while to read. BTW, I used to be in an internet writing group with Charlie Stross before he got famous and somewhat rich.

Anything you cant explain in 20 minutes isnt worth knowing.
I need a copy of this to send to my preacher. We are fortunate. Our priest writes short but spot-on homilies.

LOL, didn’t see the preceding post — and you’re often off about this time. Nice you’re staying a bit.

I am generally prepared to discourse at length on almost any subject.
Normally I would have to be physically dragged from the lecturn to silence me, a function my wife is only too happy to provide. I'm not yet a natural at this. But I survived my first speaking engagement, and after that the rest have been comparatively easy. That first one I arrived 9 PM in Beijing (from Seattle, and I do not sleep on planes), met my hosts (I was dependent on their recognizing me), we went to the hotel and were up past midnight going over my presentation with my translator, and at 10 AM (quite jetlagged) I was speaking to some 200 very business-like suits (a Chinese government committee).

I don’t care about the fame but I could use the money.

Waiting for that posthumous kick in popularity is the pits. Exceeded only by the posthumus kick in popularity.
What you really want is the posthummus kick in popularity.

What you really want is the posthummus kick in popularity. Oh no, this is the easy one. Throw a party, serve hummus, and enjoy the popularity. You don't have to die & be buried for this one. *\;-)

Hummingbirds hum because they don’t know the words.
My friend Pauly told me that.

My preacher is a professor at a Christian university. He tries to cut back but he just has this 50 minutes mindset. 30-40 minutes is the norm. He teaches Church history early church to present.

Hummingbirds hum because they dont know the words. As opposed to songbirds, who clearly don't speak American.
Hm. What about jailbirds?

And to think we used to be bothered with a former priest’s 20+ minute sermons. (He really should have been teaching at our seminary, but...)

Fine, thank you. Glad to have some time to catch up on FR. The past two weeks were hectic, personally and professionally. And now I’m looking at starting spring cleaning tomorrow. Egads...my life is becoming routine.
I hope all has been well with you!

What about jailbirds? They sing beautifully if you threaten to take their cigarettes away.

I hope all has been well with you! All is well -- five consecutive weeks AT HOME!
Ends a week from tomorrow, a week+ in the greater D.C. area but with opportunities to visit both Gettysburg and NicknamedBob. (And to pay my respects to a friend from over 50 years ago, now interred with his wife in Arlington National Cemetery.)
