It’s a certainty none of us will live forever, but still sad.

God made all things, including intelligence. Like everything else, He distributed it randomly.

We mourn people because we are selfish, and will miss them. The reality is that they are free from the bondage of human frailties, faults and weaknesses.

I’ve lost probably 40 people that I’ve gotten very close to, or are family members, and I miss them, but I also realize they are much better off without the earthly fetters.

I’ll have to go outside and breathe a lot :-). And maybe the snake will give us a carbon footprint today; she ate two dead mice yesterday.

It’s not selfish to miss them, however much they’re in a better place.

Yes, just as if they've moved away to someplace really nice.

Perhaps selfish is too strong a word. But humans have things backwards: we rejoice when a child is born, even though we know it will have to undergo trials we may not even be able to imagine. But when someone is released from those trials through death, we mourn, when we should be rejoicing at their freedom. Which is why Catholics celebrate a funeral Mass.

Incivility has become a hallmark of the left.

People don’t need a reason to hate, but most of them hate things that are good, things they don’t understand, and things they can’t have.

The use of “selfish” often makes people angry, although all it means is “considering myself.” Another word for it is “human”! If we’re sad when someone close to us has died, it’s probably because we’re thinking of the loss to ourselves, rather than the gain to the one who no longer suffering and is with the Lord. It’s simply natural, and we feel it more strongly when the person was a big part of our lives, less strongly with someone who was very old and sick.

(CFIDS often makes it difficult for me to express myself properly, but you have very deftly done it for me, and you have my eternal gratitude!)

My wife and I were watching the news last night when the first reports came out. One of the reporters described Heston’s death as tragic—the wifey and I both looked at each other with the same thought—what’s tragic about an 85 year old man who’s led a long and rich, storied life, finally being relieved of his suffering?

While there is good reason to be sad at his passing, there is much more reason to be happy at the wonderful life he had. I pity people who don’t understand this.

Happy to help!

As Christians, we’re a mix of earthly and Heavenly, and God knows that :-). In the case of Mr. Heston, I can be happy for him about his “homegoing,” as some say, and at the same time sad for his family and friends.

His work for our country was finished because of his illness, although he was still a symbol. His passing gives us all a good opportunity to celebrate his life and achievements. Maybe I’ll watch “Ben-Hur” later!

BTW, I will never comprehend those that gleefully dance on the graves of those they dislike. Such disrespect for life is one of the biggest reasons to fear the left.

They hate all life, including their own. That is the end result of 40 years of socialist brainwashing.

The funny thing is, while they hate others’ lives, it’s my observation that the left generally does love life. They always like living well themselves, but are rather loathe to sacrifice anything personally in that pursuit.

I’ve always thought that leftists are supremely selfish—which is why they want government to take care of people...ostensibly so they themselves don’t have to.
