Where's last week's snow?
Good night.
My theory is, you brought us rain from the left coast when you arrived, and you stole our heat when you left.
I will probably have forgotten about it by the next time I'm ready to let you buy me beer again.
Good morning, y’all. It was Prom Night in Monroe last night. There were fancy-dressed girls in the Target, and I saw some going into the Petsmart. I can understand the Target - need to replace their stockings, or suddenly couldn’t stand their earrings - but the Petsmart? “Hey, since we’re in the area, let’s get a few dozen crickets and a batch of frozen mice on the way to the prom!”
We stopped for gas on the way home, and then the van wouldn’t start! AAA said it would be *3 hours* for a service. There was a Subway shop in the gas station, so I bought Vlad a cookie, and fortunately James and Pat had stayed home with Anoreth. They were worn out after their yardwork. Some young men in a great big 4WD truck jumped the van after about 20 minutes, and we got home by 9:00.
Something loose in the electrical system, we think. We’ll have to take the truck and the Purple Thing to Mass today, and DP can take the van to the shop tomorrow; neighbor can jump it, if necessary. Sometimes it starts!
Maybe the girls that went into Petsmart were going to pick up their dates... *sorry*
It’s good that someone helped you get the van started. It could be something as simple as corroded battery posts or a loose connection. I hate when that happens, though! I always have cables, but there isn’t always someone to jump the truck! Thankfully, it’s only happened once. :knock on wood:
It’s going to be windy again today, but by 9:00 or 10:00, I’ll shut the windows and door and close the kitchen blinds to try and keep the place cooler when we get the “high” of 83.
I know nothing of a SIM card, as I have yet to upgrade my phone. Maybe when I get my stimulus check, I’ll treat myself to a camera phone...:o])
Have you rested up?
It was Pierce Brosnan as 007, and I was drooling during the entire movie. Of course Sean Bean isn’t too shabby, either, in a different way, but if I could have my Druthers....
;o]
How thoughtless and inconsiderate of sion to steal your heat.
Perhaps you should make a trip to the Left Coast and return the favor: Steal the rain and cloudy skies.
The battery is pretty new, but it could be the alternator or just a loose connection. There was an unpleasant sizzling sound after it wouldn’t start and the lights went off!
Yep. That’s what it sounds like! Let’s hope it’s just a loose connection. That’s easier and cheaper to fix!
I’ve had bad luck with alternators for many years. Maybe it’s my Aura :-).
I'm not sure but I think in the U.S. only T-Mobile uses SIM cards. It's a tiny memory card that has a unique code that the carrier ties to your mobile number. Put the card in a different phone and that phone becomes "yours."
Because my account has Internet access and LoM's doesn't, we sometimes put my card in her phone to download software onto her phone from the Internet (www.getjar.com).
One can purchase SIM cards for international travel or for other countries. (For me it *might* make sense to have a German SIM card, since I am over there so often.)
SIM cards can also hold your phonebook, so that that moves to the new phone along with the card. The downside, as I have learned once again, is that if the phonebook isn't backed up (as mine wasn't -- I hadn't quite yet installed the backup software!) you lose it when the SIM card fails. Mine seem to fail every 5 years or so.
Rested up? No. But I'll make it.
Are you better today?
My old Nash Metropolitans were forever having troubles with their charging systems. There's a reason they called Joe Lucas "Prince of Darkness."
The “new” Volkswagen Beetle had a bad electrical system, too. My mom had lots of trouble with hers, and finally sold it and got a Camry (again) because they always start.
For some Petsmart is where smart young ladies pick fashion accessories.
I’ll have to watch for that when I’m out. I’m always interested in fashion, even if I don’t have any myself :-).
The last time I needed to buy a (used) car I checked out the April Consumer's Reports -- and it was an eye-opener. Over and over, the first year run of a new model had problems, but subsequent years usually improved. What I bought was one of their best recommendations for under $5000 (prices here are much higher), and it has turned out to be a quite reliable car.
Sadly, looking at this month's CR, that automaker has slipped badly in the quality realm.
The Metro was a "fun" car, though. Size of a VW bug, frame built like a tank, it was basically a Bug-eye Sprite.
That’s a cute little car.
One day I thought I was having a bad day, to much to do. I exited the I=15 S in Menifee and at the end of the off ramp was a new bright blue VW bug blocking the right turn lane. It had the clean shiny new look that news cars have. It didn’t have license plates yet. I was turning left so it did not block me so I might have not noticed it except that it had just caught on fire. There was a young lady standing on the side of the road on a cell phone. A Caltrans truck had already stopped and a man with a small fire extinguisher was standing back from the car looking at it. My day wasn’t so bad after all.
Also very tough. My first (black&white, like this) was plowed into from behind by a ‘57 Chev going from 35 to 50 MPH at impact (I was stopped with brakes on). A friend drove my car away. The Chev was totaled.
