DUmmie FUnnies 03-08-08 (Charles Henrickson vs Paul Shanklin: Battle of the Parodists)
DUmmie FUnnies ^ | March 8, 2008 | PJ-Comix

This week we might see a major duel between two figures known in the political world. No, not the feud between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. I am referring to a much more intense rivalry between song parodists Charles Henrickson and Paul Shanklin. The reason why we might see these two writers of parody go head to head is that this past Wednesday, Charles Henrickson posted his Ebony and Ovary song parody on the Free Republic at exactly 2:03 PM at Reply #60 on this DUFU THREAD. Six minutes later, on Reply #62, Freeper mikrofon, posted the following message:

Just to flag you Charles, if you hadn’t heard it just MINUTES AGO Rush said he had to get his “white parodist(?)” Paul Shanklin to do a variation on “Ebony and Ivory”...

‘Hate to see you get passed over by the “Pro” again...

The battle is ON! Obviously the lesser known Charles won't be plagiarizing the much more famous (for now) Paul Shanklin since his Ebony and Ovary parody was posted just as Rush was making his request. Therefore, this week we may have a unique chance to compare the lyrics of the two parodists on the same song. Therefore I am asking that anyone who hears Shanklin's Ebony and Ivory parody to post the lyrics here so that we may compare them in detail. Yes, this will definitely be a battle of the David vs Goliath song parodists. Of course, both of these gentlemen deserve to have their incredible song parodies heard on national radio. Paul Shanklin already does but perhaps a certain conservative female national talk show host will also give Charles Henrickson the same outlet.

In case you missed it, here is Charles Henrickson's Ebony and Ovary sung to the tune of Ebony and Ivory by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder:

Ebony and Ovary
In the gutter in every primary
Suicide when we hit November
D*mn her, Hillary!

We all know
That liberals are the same whatever their name
There's a Socialist
In everyone
But they sling the mud
When they have to face each other
When they need to attack
They lay down the smack

Ebony and Ovary
In the gutter in every primary
Suicide when we hit November
D*mn her, Hillary!

Ebony, Ovary, fighting in every primary
Ebony, Ovary . . .

We all know
That liberals are the same whatever their name
There's a Socialist
In everyone
But they sling the mud
When they have to face each other
When they need to attack
They lay down the smack

Ebony and Ovary
In the gutter in every primary
Suicide when we hit November
D*mn her, Hillary!
Suicide when we hit November
D*mn her, Hillary!

Ebony, Ovary, fighting in every primary . . .

On a thread about a woman by the of Suzanne Butts (arrrested for stealing toilet paper) you wrote a Leonard Cohen parody that was hilarious. I doubt many have seen it so here it is:

SUZANNE

Suzanne takes you down to her place with indoor plumbing
You can hear the Butts go by
You can spend the night expelling
‘Cause you know that she’s got two-ply
And that’s why you want to be there
And she gives you toilet paper
That comes marked “For Marshall County”
And just when you mean to ask her
That you wonder how she got it
Then she gets you on her toilet
And she lets the paper answer
That you really want to use more
And you don’t care how she got it
And you don’t care if she’s fined
And you know that she will get more
For you’ve touched her toilet paper to your behind.

BTW, the "Whole Lot of Shakin' Goin' On" video you linked to just had the music. However, check out this Jerry Lee Lewis VIDEO of him performing this song in the UK. This is probably the BEST rock 'n' roll performance ever. The YouTube poster said it was from the 80s but I am positive this performance was from the early 60s judging from the hair styles plus the fact that Jerry Lee looks fairly youthful.

I saw Jerry Lee Lewis on the Grammy Awards a couple weeks ago. It was like they put a 45 record on 33-and-a-third. 'Course he's 72 now. He was doing a set with Little Richard and John Fogerty.

John Fogerty (of CCR fame) is one of my all-time favorites--despite some leftist politics--and at 62 he definitely still has it! He did a two-hour set on PBS Soundstage recently, and it was GREAT!

BTW, PJ, did you know that Jerry Lee Lewis is a cousin of Jimmy Swaggart?

the Henrickson vs Shanklin “feud”

Hey, I got something to rhyme with "Shanklin"--and make it make sense! Let's see Paul do that with "Henrickson"!
