JUST SAY NO : To John McCain
David Osborne ^ | 02 Feb 2008 | David Osborne

MY FELLOW CONSERVATIVE AMERICANS…

It has been some time since I wrote an “Open Letter to the American People” http://www.DavidOsborne.net

I am currently on vacation after my return home from Iraq, and have been watching the presidential race very carefully.. I am VERY disturbed when I hear conservatives say that “John McCain is the front runner….. so we need to support him” I SAY --- JUST SAY NO…

Whenever you hear a conservative try to prop up John McCain as the “Front Runner” – JUST SAY NO !

When you hear a conservative say that John McCain is the “only one that can beat the HildaBEAST” --- JUST SAY NO !

While Mike Huckabee is not my first choice I take Duncan Hunter’s endorsement of him very seriously, and I feel that we as REAL conservatives.. evidenced by our support for Duncan Hunter… should rally behind the candidate that Duncan Hunter has endorsed if for no other reason simply because of his endorsement.. Remember the reason that you supported Duncan Hunter in the first place? Prior to my support of Duncan Hunter.. I have NEVER supported a presidential candidate that I agree with across the board on nearly EVERY issue.. while I don’t have as strong of an agreement with Huckabee as I do Duncan Hunter, I have to admit that a LOT of my support of Huckabee is based solely on Duncan Hunter’s endorsement.

TOWARD VICTORY..

Feel free to pass this on.

a quote a bit out of context IMHO... Duncan Hunter’s endorsement is VERY significant to most REAL conservatives..

“Congressman Hunter’s decision to withdraw and endorse Gov Huckabee was deliberately timed for his organization to be leveraged to maximize Huckabee’s Florida turnout and prevent a first place Romney finish.”

If that is the case, Cong. Hunter is not the man I thought he was. Huckabee is a joke. At least Romney looks like a man, not a southern bumpkin preacher, which is where Huck needs to be, not in the white house. All you and Hunter are doing is insuring a McCain win. I can’t abide that.

While we are saying no to John McCain can we also say no to all the liberals? Romney, Huckabee, McCain, Clinton and Hussein? Let's make sure we have a brokered convention and the possibility of an actual conservative nominee from the GOP.

I watched that debate and it was one of the first things that turned me off about the guy. He used key phrases used by liberals and pro amnesty Republicans to diffuse criticism of amnesty. He did qualify his comment with "it was only some people but he was getting nasty calls to his office". He used the same tactics as Bush, McCain, Graham and Lott did during amnesty and thats what is so frustrating. We became racists suddenly to our leaders we elected. I expect that from Dems but not from our own people.

Huck changed his rhetoric after doing some focus grouping I am sure. At least McCain is straight forward about his plans. Huck would probably say something like “I’ve never worked harder in my life for this but it just can’t be done, I tried my best.” The sad thing it didn’t work with evangelicals when Clinton pulled that crap, it would if Huck pulled it and that is why he is dangerous. His true core supporters don’t question him in anyway.

I understand your frustration.. this IS the primary..... we need to push for the MOST conservative candidate IMHO.. Who do you support?

It is more than simple frustration. It is a fact. Another common misconception by Republicans is to believe there are degrees of Conservatism. A candidate cannot be the MOST or least Conservative. You are only deluding yourself into believing otherwise. It is tantamount to saying a woman can be a little pregnant. It is precisely that type of thinking that the GOP now finds itself. Each elections the party presents candidates that are a little more socialistic and each election party members again employ the "we must hold our nose" mentality. It has always been a losing proposition.

A candidate is either a Conservative or not Conservative. There is no in between. Whomever I choose to support will be based on Conservatism and not simply to blindly tow the party line as so many in the GOP apparently have chosen.

David I love yah, but NO. ROMNEY gets MY vote, my husbands, my brother's, Ann Coulter's, Mark Levin's, Rush's, Hannity's---and the list of REAL Conservatives who's vote he'll get on Tuesday goes on and on and on.

"...At times, I have tended toward Huckabee due to SOME of his positions and his straightforward manner. However, I dislike the way both he and McCain accuse Romney of “attacking”, when all he has done is pointed out their records on certain issues. As others have opined, I truly think Huckabee is actually campaigning either for VP or for some other spot in a McCain administration..."

VERY well put!

I agree. I certainly HOPE Congressman Hunter would NOT do that!

it just so happens that i KNOW Mike (AR is NOT a big or heavily populated state. everyone in politics there knows everyone else.).

nonetheless, he IS one of my denomination's pastors AND i do NOT like the idea of ANY pastor leaving the pulpit for politics.(fwiw, i didn't particularly like the idea of him being the governor of AR either, but that didn't bother me as much because being the governor is a PART-time job.)

you will also pardon my belief that being a PASTOR is just as valuable as being POTUS.

you may NOT like my PERSONAL opinion, but it IS my opinion & mine is likely just as valid as yours.

sounds like a GOOD PLAN to me.

let the delegates from the 50 states PICK 2 REAL CONSERVATIVES for the GOP '08 ticket, as there are NO conservatives in the race now.

fwiw, i was a RWR delegate to a long ago convention & "unhampered by " selected delegates we would have NEVER had "jimmy baby" as POTUS.

true. but more to the point, Romney and/or McCain CANNOT win the dixie states. period. end of story. (W/O the 13 dixie states the GOP loses.)the FACT is that NEITHER are liked/trusted/admired by dixie's traditionalists. instead of voting for either, MANY of us will "go fishing".

fwiw, we got "blessed with" 4 LONG years of "jimmy carter" because southerners IN MASS "went fishing" on election day.

we "stiff-necked", good 'ole boys/grrls will do so again, IF we are faced with someone who is NOT a solid reliable CONSERVATIVE.

trust me, i KNOW "my people".

David,

Our only hope is to hope for/force a brokered convention.

To do that, McCain must not win all the marbles on Tuesday.

Don’t know quite how to make that happen, though.

Excuse me but I'm against SHAMNESTY via Juan McCain. That's not tearing down but it's part of McCain's DEMOCRATIC RECORD. He's hijacked the Republican Party and they are foolishly tagging along. I can tear down a record that has already gotten Americans killed, robbed and maimed, and that doesn't include gutting our emergency rooms: cuz there's no border fence and McCain will go back on his word and will push for amnesty. Why do you think all the illegal aliens in S. Florida voted for McCain? They want all instant citizenship!

McCAIN: WEAK ON SECURING THE BORDER & ENFORCING IMMIGRATION LAWS

2006- Sen. McCain voted against extending the border fence in the Sessions Amendment (2) to H.R. 5441.

2006- Sen. McCain voted to prevent the border fence from being built by voting in favor of the Managers Amendment to S. 2611, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006.

2006- Sen. McCain voted to allow illegal aliens to receive Social Security by voting to table the Ensign Amendment to S. 2611, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006.

2006- Sen. McCain voted against funding additional immigration investigators by voting against the Sessions Amendment (1) to H.R. 5441.

2005- Sen. McCain voted against providing funding for additional Border Patrol and ICE agents by voting against the Byrd Amendment to H.R. 1268.

McCAIN: THE AMNESTY KING FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS 2007 Sen. McCain was heavily involved in the backroom negotiations of S. 1348 with Sen. Kennedy and Pres. Bush this was an amnesty (permanent residency & path to citizenship) for more than 10 million illegal aliens.

2007 Sen. McCain cast several votes to protect the amnesty in S. 1639 and to move the amnesty toward a vote.

2007- Sen. McCain is a cosponsor of S. 774, the DREAM Act. The bill would grant in-state tuition and amnesty to more than a million illegal aliens under the age of 30.

2007- Sen. McCain is a cosponsor of S. 340, the Agricultural Job Opportunities, Benefits, and Security Act of 2007 (AgJOBS). This bill would grant amnesty to millions of illegal agricultural workers.

2006- Sen. McCain voted in favor of S. 2611, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006. This bill would have awarded amnesty to 10.2 million illegal aliens.

2005- Sen. McCain and Sen. Kennedy introduced S.1033, an amnesty for virtually all illegal aliens.

2005- Sen. McCain was a cosponsor of S. 239, the AgJOBS amnesty.

2003- Sen. McCain was a cosponsor of S. 1645, the AgJOBS amnesty.

2003- Sen. McCain was a cosponsor the S. 1461 amnesty for millions of illegal aliens.

AT THE MOMENT, REPUBLICAN VOTERS SEEM PERCHED TO REWARD THIS BEHAVIOR WITH A NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT.

The tone of my last post. It’s an “excuse me” for Juan McCain’s cheerleaders, not meant for you.
