'Another Lying Ex-governor from Arkansas in White House?'
National Ledger via News By Us Blog ^ | November 16, 2007 | John W. Lillpop

Most Americans recall all too well the turmoil and discord of the Clinton Presidency of 1992-2000. While in office, President Clinton fine tuned the art of issuing misleading, inaccurate and flat out false statements into a precise science.

The unvarnished truth is that President Clinton lied through his teeth, regularly and unashamedly.

Perjury and obstruction of justice eventually caught up with President Clinton, as he was ultimately stripped of his license to practice law and forbidden from arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court, at least temporarily.

Fifteen years after the Democrat ex-governor from Arkansas lied his way into the White House, the Republican party has its own silver tongued, double talking “bubba.”

That would be Mike Huckabee, another ex-governor from Arkansas who finds the truth devilishly elusive, or downright disgusting to be more precise.

Mike Huckabee has been caught in a real whopper, even by the standards for deceit set by Bill Clinton.

Apparently, Huckabee lied about having a degree in theology.

WND: http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59222

The mind boggles: An ordained Baptist pastor and first-tier presidential candidate lied about having a degree in theology! What in the hell is this nation coming to?

Even more distressing is Huckabee’s record while serving as the CEO of Arkansas. This governor raised taxes and encouraged illegal immigration, for heaven’s sake!

And now he is running as the candidate best suited to meet conservative expectations in 2008?

God, please, spare America and her people from another lying ex-governor from Arkansas in the Oval Office!

Make that “God, please, spare America and her people from another lying ex-governor from Arkansas, or female spouse thereof, in the Oval Office!”

Hugh Hewitt was demonizing Huckabee for indicating that it was there was a possible future with Iran, that we could some day have friendly relations with them.

Hewitt seemed to dismiss this, instead focusing on the true fact that Iran is sending militants in to Iraq to fight against our troops.

Both are true: Iran could very well become an ally soon, and they’re currently sending in bad guys to fight against us.

But Hewitt dismissed Huckabee’s point, going on to imply that the only legitimate response to Iran was to fight them (with no thought about our future good relationship with them).

I, for one, am not going to denounce you for your conviction. Huckabee, though not my choice, is better than some of the other Republicans and better than all of the Democrats.

Gotcha! His bio is mistaken since the school doesn’t issue degrees in religion.

No true Christian who believes he was 'called to lead' would desert that heart-felt calling to jump into politics. That is the main reason I do not trust this man.

Could any of you imagine Billy Graham leaving his 'flock' to become a Governor or Senator? No way in you-know-where.

Can you be more specific? I see degrees in Theology but no sign of a degree in religion.

Of course, you’re probably just trying to be silly, implying that degrees in Religion are illegitimate.

No I'm not. I am serious. There are no "Degrees" of religion. Your referenced site backs this up. They have "Studies" of religion but no where does it say "Degrees" of Religion. BIG difference and Huckabee knows it.

You posted :
“Hugh was saying that Huckabee was wrong, that we in effect should just nuke Iran out of existence.”

Found at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1941040/posts?page=34#23

That’s a lie.

Will you now admit that you lied?

Thanks. I believe FR should return to reasonable discussions about the issues and not get caught up in petty devisive issues. Let’s leave that up to the DEMs.

Well, I’ll give them this. It was a deception and a fairly good one. The got a lot of people arguing about whether there is any difference between a degree in religion or theology, with probably a majority deciding that its just not really important. But the real story here is that Huckabee tried a little clumsy Mormon bating on a NYT reporter and when he was called on it tried to claim that it was just an innocent question.

If he gets away with this sort of thing, welcome back to 1992. Remember Clinton on the breaking Jennifer Flowers story? “Well, I might have met her. I meet a lot of people”

But, heh, maybe we should just let it slide. Maybe he won’t try any more of these cute tricks on us.

He didn’t get away with it. He personally apologized to Mitt. More than most would do. Agree?

I’m tired on folks dumping on Arkansas...it’s bullshit.

Would folks dump on Harlem or Miami Beach or even Utah (the new minority)

I think not.

and now....i am neither pro-Huckster nor from Arkansas but I see mostly anti-Christian and anti-Southern bigotry in this and worst of all from the usual suspects here (not you) who finger point ad nauseum over bigotry.

I’m gonna be honest.......from what I see on FR these days outside the Fred camp (and Tanc and Dunk).....I’m not too optimistic...they are just as PC as the dems.....pro-war and anti-tax social libs claiming to be conservatives

He basically denied what he had done:

HUCKABEE: After the debate today I went to Mitt Romney and apologized to him, because I said, I would never try, ever, to try to somehow pick out some point of your faith and make it, you know, an issue, and I wouldn’t. I’ve stayed away from talking about Mitt Romney’s faith. And I told him face to face, I said, “I don’t think your being a Mormon ought to make you more or less qualified for being a president.” That has been my position.

I went to my neighbor and apologized to him because I said I would never try to sleep with his wife. You know it just not something I would go out of my way to do. And I don’t think the fact that his wife sleeps around ought to be held against him. :^)

Huckabees apology, which you neglected to mention earlier,
was sincere. Just about any apology can be intentionally
twisted. Although I thought ad lib apology was pretty funny.

Having a little integrity is like being a little bit pregnant. One either has it do they don’t. Truth by definition can not be measured in degrees. How are we supposed to know when he tells the truth and when it’s lies? That’s the problem with liars. There is no way to know. Put him in the Oval office; what about then? Lies or truths. What’s the difference between one liar and another. Nothing.

Ha ha ha. Still no photo of a “Degree in Religion”. I don’t blame you, the man needs all the help he can get.

My friend, look at the first bolded phrase on that page: “Religion Major.”

Slow down. Read. Liberty offers a “Religion Major,” e.g, a degree in religion.
