Scratch Huckabee
The Illinois Review ^ | December 15, 2007 | Mark Rhoads

Posted on 12/15/2007 1:38:17 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

He is a former minister from Hope, Arkansas (yes of course we know who else came from Hope and it is not a fun coincidence). He makes jokes that he knows nothing about foreign policy. It is not funny. He just proved how little he does know. If he ever wants to be taken seriously by anyone, he should not delegate his articles on the topic to neophyte and left-leaning ghost writers. An article supposedly under his byline in the new issue of Foreign Affairs says:

"American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out," ... "The Bush administration's arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad. My administration will recognize that the United States' main fight today does not pit us against the world but pits the world against the terrorists."

Foreign Affairs is a publication of the Council on Foreign Relations. That is a group that very few self-respecting Republicans belong to unless they want to get a cheap group fare to India in January. I would be happy to bet all the money in my pocket against all the money in your pocket right now (sorry, only $23.50 in mine at the moment), that the Darwin-thumping former governor never read an issue of that magazine in his entire life until this week. What a buffoon he is turning out to be.

I was completely fooled last August by his speech to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) in Philadelphia. He spoke and so did Fred Thompson. Thompson made a good speech but phoned it in and was mediocre and cold on delivery. Huckabee sounded limited in his knowlege but he came across as very sincere and he gave a better speech for that reason. The problem is he does not seem to think much before he speaks.

Nice timing, just when brave American service men and women are making significant progress and are dramatically reducing attacks on both American and Iraqi people in Baghdad, Huckabee, the 21st Century nominee of the Know Nothing Party, decides to burnish his non-existent foreign policy credentials with a juvenile and mornonic attack on the president of our country in a left-wing journal. What on Earth can he be thinking of? Huckabee immodestly describes himself in TV ads as a "Christian leader." For starters maybe he could show some real leadership and explain why a "Christian leader" would routinely take expensive gifts from people he later rewarded with appointments to state agencies. Actions speak louder than words and so far the former governor has been slow to explain his actions.

I haven’t seen a single post in support of Huckabee this week—either they’re all huddled together on threads I don’t visit, or the bloom is off the rose.

Try Why Huckabee is the Best General Election Candidate and What Makes Him the Ideal Candidate to Win. You'll see exactly the level of logic this article defines. Void and vapid.

Neither do I ever talk with anyone here in Pennsylvania who prefers Huckabee.

For the life of me, I can't figure out where these pollsters are finding people who support Huckabee.

Me thinks some pollsters (especially those hired by drive-bys) have a confusing way of asking their questions, and then manipulate the answers to fit their pre-conceived notions.

I know Rudy supporters. I know Fred supporters, Hunter, Romney, even McCain.

Everyone I know thinks the Huckmeister would be an awful candidate, and or president.

The "good Republicans" are all social conservatives. The "not so good Republicans" are the traditional countryclubbers.

Never heard of a countryclubber who wanted any changes whatsoever in the tax system ~ that's because they've organized their affairs so they get all the tax breaks ~ change would cost them some serious accountancy fees to revise their business models.

So, what kind of folks are you really talking about?

smaller government, lower taxes, privitized social security... Problem with Fair Tax is that it proposes sending monthly “prebate checks” based on the size of the household to every taxpayer.
