RON PAUL WINS ANOTHER ROUND [so says a commie at The Nation]
The Nation ^ | 11/28/2007 | John Nichols

Posted on 11/29/2007 9:26:18 AM PST by nsmart

Arizona Senator John McCain tried to resuscitate his ailing campaign for the Republican presidential nomination by attacking Texas Congressman Ron Paul's anti-war stance during Wednesday night's CNN/YouTube debate.

But, as in previous Republican debates where leading contenders have stumbled in their attempts to attack the renegade congressman, it was Paul who ended up drawing the cheers of the crowd.

Playing his Thanksgiving visit to Iraq for political points, McCain tore into Paul for arguing -- as part of a discussion about spending -- that bringing the troops home from Iraq would save "a trillion dollars."

Just as former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani tried in an earlier debate to buff his national-security credentials by attacking Paul's suggestion that misguided U.S. foreign policies increased the likelihood of terrorist attacks, McCain attempted to burnish his image as a champion of the troops by attacking Paul -- and, by extension, all critics of the war.

Invoking memories of the American First movement's opposition in the late-1930s and early-1940s to preparation for the fight with Hitler and Mussolini, McCain declared, "it's that kind of isolationism that caused World War II."

That rhetorical flourish drew hisses from the Republican crowd that listened to the debate in St. Petersburg, Florida

But Paul did not need the audience to protect him.

I didn’t “throw around” any “traitor crap.”
Perhaps you have me confused with someone else.
I don’t think Ron Paul is a traitor. I don’t think he has the mental capacity to commit treason.

During Clinton’s presidency, Freepers got it. They knew the powers of government were dangerous to liberty. They railed, as did I at enemies lists of the Clintons, of what they did to Linda Tripp, what they did with FBI files (and by the way, don’t think Hillary stopped at entering GOP files, she had many more Democrat files legitimately and uses them to keep the Rats in line).

I really don’t understand the misunderstanding of how this power amassed by their president will be misused by any future presidents. They don’t understand we are going broke with the Fed printing dollars to pay for all our military. The Boomers are coming and the Rats (should they get elected, which they will if we don’t return to conservative principles) will be raising your taxes. If our dollar drops 90% of its value as has been predicted, lord I hope not, but we would be scrambling just to eat again.. like the 30’s.

Yeah, Blackwater would have had a convoy of armed SUVs in Kabul on 9/12! A real joke!

Ron Paul isn’t an appeaser, he’s just insane.
And so are his followers. They all live in a fantasy world.
I suggest on election night you just stay home and watch ‘V For Vendetta’ again.

“Members and front organizations must continually embarrass, discredit, & degrade our critics. When obstructionists become too irritating, label them as fascist or Nazi or anti-Semitic. Constantly associate those who oppose us with those names that already have a bad smell. The association will, after enough repetition, become ‘fact’ in the public mind.” Central Committee of the Communist Party, 1943, in an instruction sent to Communists around the world.

We know where you get your tactics.. just keep calling the only non CFR candidate the GOP has as an ‘appeaser’.

Where was Norad on 9/11? Where was the CIA on the 9/11 terrorists overstaying their visas? Where was the FBI?

Gosh...I guess they were all in on it! (I cannot have a rational discussion with a Truther.)

Government doesn’t work very well.

Government certainly has its flaws, I'll grant you that. But if you think it's that bad, perhaps you need to travel, broaden your horizons and learn a new appreciation for your own nation.

Ron Paul is not the answer to the US government's woes. Not by a long shot. Some of his moonbat policies are so steeped in fantasy and utopianism that they're quite frightening.

Seriously, do you think Ron Paul is insane? I seriously doubt it. He has delivered 4000 babies. He has been married 50 years to the same woman. He is NOT A GLOBALIST!

In my opinion, the GOP is making one hell of a mistake not embracing the young, enthusiastic supporters of Ron Paul into their dwindling numbers. If you can tell me why GOP contributions overall are well below the Democrats, without blaming it on Ron Paul, I’d be interested to hear your theory.

In my opinion, the neocon candidates are being rejected, not just by the left, but by the right.

Yes, seriously I do think he is insane.
You can see it in his eyes. You can hear it when he speaks.
And I think anyone who thinks his conspiracy theories make sense is insane too.

Actually, the frontgroups, like CodePink, and their members, like Cindy Sheehan, do not "discredit & degrade" Ron Paul.... they praise him and march in anti-American parades with his followers.

Your test appears to yield converse results with your enemy appeaser hero! Figure that out and you may realize why you are so confused and WRONG.

The reason why GOP contributions are lagging behind Democrats is because most Republicans are still undecided. The donations will come pouring in after the nominee is chosen. The Democrats on the other hand are comprised of two groups: those who want the Clintons back in the White House, and those who don’t. Both sides are vigorously giving to their candidates, Hillary and Obama.

There are about as many “young, enthusiastic supporters of Ron Paul” as there were of Howard Dean. They don’t show up to the polls. Just ask Howard. These are the kind of people who like to stir the pot just for the sake of it.

“Gosh...I guess they were all in on it! (I cannot have a rational discussion with a Truther.)”

When replies start to try to smear me with lies, I know you are questioning your position.

“Government certainly has its flaws, I’ll grant you that. But if you think it’s that bad, perhaps you need to travel, broaden your horizons and learn a new appreciation for your own nation.”

I’ve been out of the country 4 times in the last 10 years. I’ve been on a cruise out of Athens. I’ve taken Eurrail with my daughter to visit Switzerland where my ancestors came from, drove though Canada to Niagara from my daughters home in Detroit area and I recently visited France with my granddaughter because a friend’s daughter was living there involved in ‘Campus Crusade for Christ’.

I love the US. I’m so glad I was born here. My grandfather in the late 1940’s had FDR nailed. At the time he told me, ‘they say the SS# will never be a national ID, but you might as well tattoo it on your arm right now.’ He was raised by fiercely independent immigrants from Switzerland. He fought the idea of a driver’s license.

“Ron Paul is not the answer to the US government’s woes.”

Why are GOP donations down well below the Democrats and previous years? Its the candidates... globalists all! .. get a clue! Ron Paul is the only candidate who can even spell SOVEREIGNTY

Not really. That buys four commercials in prime time.

And the amounts the Paulies go around touting are pledged amounts.

Even some on the Paul campaign admit that they'll never see a good chunk of all that money.
