Common sense should tell you that that spam was not from a Fred Thompson supporter. Almost certainly it was from a banned Hunter or Romney supporter as complained about in the spam.
Ask yourself, would a Thompson person complain about the bad treatment of Hunter/Romney people on FR?

I got the Im4Fred FReempmail too. I fired off an angry response, but I found out he was already banned, so I guess he didn’t get it.
I hope pissant can come back. He did a lot of work for Hunter and was a good member of this forum.
He’ll be back... He’s contributed too much and, despite disagreements with FR policies - and maybe pushing the limits a bit - no one can discount his sincerity or fiery patriotism. He got a candidate for the U.S. Presidency on FR live, and may do it again. Not too many can say that.

I wasn’t going to vote for Thompson anyway, so does it really matter.
Many FReepers and mods act like Fred Thompson is their only child, and are as protective. They’ll scratch your eyes out without a moment’s thought if you say something bad about their baby.

My only disagreement with your logic is that you said “supports 75% of our conservative agenda”.
Romney certainly supports 75% of our agenda. The difficulty most have with him is that they don’t TRUST him.
While I understand that you must trust a candidate in order to support them, that’s fundamentally different from ATTACKING the candidate for NOT being supportive of conservative causes.
This is where my complaint is. I wouldn’t support Romney if he wasn’t now proposing things I agree with (as you may find in other threads, I like some of what he’s done with the medical issue, AND I’m glad a state did something so we can see if it works). I obviously had to come to terms with his history.
Not only is Rudy less believable in his pronouncements in my opinion (mostly because when he EXPLAINS why he’s saying the right thing, his explanations often show he doesn’t MEAN the same thing we mean when he says it, but Rudy also defends many liberal positions he still holds.
Romney has a few items within some policies that aren’t what most conservatives seem to like, but certainly not more than 25%.
I hope this explains my position, which is that we shouldn’t attack Romney for NOT being conservative when he is expressing conservative positions and our real problem is not trusting him.
