The following is a true eye-witness account, although some names have been changed to protect the innocent.

When Fred Thompson began to drop hints to the nation that he was considering a run for the White House, I, like many others across the nation, felt interested and enlivened by his potential candidacy. I listened to his radio broadcasts, I followed his opinion writings on the Internet. I liked his sober, southern gentleman style, and I appreciated his unwavering ....

Jeez! Over a year before the election and people are pissed because Thompson isn’t prematurely blowing his wad like Romney and Gulliani! He has only been in the race over a month and a half!!

"You may have heard media reports about Fred's lack of "fire in the belly," there is a lot of truth in that. His close advisors are frustrated by his lack of action and decisiveness."

He just did not seem to "want it" enough. But on the other hand, I am wary of those who seem to want it too much! < /backhand slap at she who must not be named >

Fred probably recognizes that presidential campaigns can start three full years before the next election. He had better things to do.

“He has only been in the race over a month and a half!!”

Exactly, and who’s fault is that?

“He had better things to do.”

Better things to do than running for President of the United States of America?

He had a full time job and was doing it. The last guy who had a more or less permanent campaign for the presidency was John f’n Carry. Remember him ?

As a still committed Fred Head, this is bunk.

I read about this Florida “fiasco” a few days ago. While I admit it was a mistake and his appearances so far have been a mixed bag, the Debate last week was effective.

And the bottom line in this mushy what’s in it for me and my feelings as demonstrated in this recap is, it’s about the country, the issues, the serious times we’re in and not whether a candidate exits stage right or stage left.

Grow up already.

I haven’t given up on him yet, but I have totally underwhelmed by what I have seen so far. He doesn’t have much time to turn things around either.

Good Grief, Charlie Brown!
IS THIS ALL ‘YA GOT?? (Against Fred)

Mission wants a job—Looks like Romney has the money so go for him.

Remember, boys and girls, the election is NEXT FALL—this is a Marathon, not a sprint.

Over a year before the election

Shouldn't he be nominated first?

Yep all candidates have their faults including your Willard fellar that this no name Ranger guy is promoting. Sad when a guy proports to be in the media writing stories but changes the names to protect the innocent and won’t even attach his name to his writings. But I guess I can understand some hesitancy when one writes about Roswell.

In any case we’ll all know the outcome within about three months now as the come to Jesus moment is coming for all the candidates some sooner than others but coming never the less....

Now Fred’s supporters would like to spin this situation as a new paradigm in modern campaigning. The old rules are meant to be broken by a media savvy pro who can use the Internet to communicate directly with the American People. While this may be a great script for an avatar in “Second Life,” I am not persuaded that the old rules of starting early, personal contact, sincere involvement, tactical planning, strategic alliances and a defensible platform based upon a successful track record, have been repealed.

Jeez! Over a year before the election

It maybe over a year until the Nov. General but the nominating caucuses and primaries begins in 70 days on Jan. 3, 2008 in Iowa and will mostly likely be over by Mar or so. Then we can worry about the Nov. General Election until then Thompson and all the candidates have got to get their acts together in order to win the nonimation.
