Duncan Hunter is a STRONG Values Voter candidate (social conservative)

Posted on 10/06/2007 2:03:58 PM PDT by Sun

Duncan Hunter is a strong Values Voter candidate, and here are a few great reasons why:

1) Pro-God: 100% rating from the Christian Coalition; fought hard for prayer in public schools; took on the ACLU and fought for the Mt. Soledad Cross to remain, and more!

2) Strong 26-year pro-life commitment: authored the personhood-at-conception bill; attended the pro-life march in D.C., and more!

3) Pro-family: voted for traditional marriage between a man and a woman through HJ Res 88; 100% rating from the Concerned Women for America, and more!

4) Border security: the only politican that was EFFECTIVE on building a fence at a strategic place on our borders (which made drug trafficking and crime go down tremendously in San Diego), and author of the bill to build an 854 mile fence which was signed into law;

5) Pro-2nd amendment: A+ NRA rating!

Something must be holding Dobson back. Does anyone know his position on illegal immigration and effective border security? Is it possible that, on this issue, he is a ‘compassionate’ conservative who would give amnesty to those they dub ‘non-criminal’ illegal aliens, opposing Hunter’s position? Or, perhaps it is a trade issue...perhaps he’s personally a ‘free’ trade guy, rather than a ‘fair’ trade guy. Just seems to me that there must be some reason. Unless, of course, he just refuses to get behind someone who’s not in the top-tier...yet!

Dr. Richard Land might be a good religious right leader to call about Duncan Hunter. He has a show on religious radio ever Saturday afternoon, where he does the politcal stuff, and details of his show, and a number where you can call the show is here:

Although today, he might be at the Values Voters’ Summit.

“Family Research Council President Leaning Toward Duncan Hunter

Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council, discusses his own presidential non-candidacy and whom he may support.

By DJ Slater
For the Marshfield News-Herald

WAUSAU — As the campaign season for the 2008 presidential election continues to heat up, the Republican picture came slightly into focus after a potential candidate denied rumors that he’ll join the fray.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C., and a national advocate for the preservation of Judeo-Christian values, told a Gannett Wisconsin newspaper on Thursday that he will not run for president in next year’s election.

Even with the Republican Party nomination up for grabs, the presidency does not interest him, he said.

“No, I don’t (have any interest),” Perkins said. “None whatsoever.”

The speculation of Perkins’ interest stemmed from a meeting he attended Sept. 29 in Salt Lake City with conservative leaders. As they discussed the presidential field, concerns rose over the possibility of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani winning the nomination.

In such a scenario, Perkins said he would support a third-party candidate, mainly because of Giuliani’s abortion rights stance.

“That would be a point we could not support,” he said.

Perkins, who was a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2002, served in Louisiana’s Legislature for eight years before joining the Family Research Council in 2003. Since then, he has been a staunch advocate for religious freedom in the public sector, anti-abortion measures and keeping marriage between a man and a woman.

Although he has observed the field of candidates, he couldn’t pinpoint one who supported all the values he promotes. The problem, he said, is the candidates each support portions of his beliefs, but not all of them.

“One or two have not been able to rise above the rest,” Perkins said.

If he had to choose, Perkins said he’d lean toward candidates such as Rep. Duncan Hunter, Sens. John McCain and Sam Brownback and former Sen. Fred Thompson, with Hunter as his favorite.

If any candidate is to break away from the rest, Perkins thinks it will happen about two weeks from now at the Voter Value Summit in Washington, D.C., an event Perkins will host.

“That event could be the point when we see a conservative begin to emerge,” he said. “I’m very optimistic that there will be a very solid pro-life, pro-family candidate.”’

To think the same dopes who call Hunter a “protectionist” and say he has “no chance” have put their support behind pro-amnesty, open-border, MFN Commie-loving RINOs like Rooty, Mitt or one of these clowns:

Fred Thompson:

Voted NO on killing a bill for trade sanctions if China sells weapons.

Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam.

Voted YES on permanent normal trade relations with China.

John McCain:

Voted YES to give permanent Normal Trade Relations status to China.

Voted to kill an amendment that would require sanctions against China or other countries if they were found to be selling illicit weapons of mass destruction.

Support the One-China policy, don’t weaken it.

Inaction on spying led to Chinese nuclear improvement.

Voted YES on ending Vietnam embargo.

Admit China to WTO based on their concessions.

Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam.

Sam Brownback:

Voted YES on killing a bill for trade sanctions if China sells weapons.

Voted YES on granting normal trade relations status to Vietnam.

Voted YES on permanent normal trade relations with China.

******************************************************
Duncan Hunter is the only one not selling us out to our enemies:

“china is cheating on trade and they’re buying ships, planes and missiles with our money, as well as taking millions of jobs.”

Voted YES on deterring foreign arms transfers to China.

Voted NO on Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China.

FRIENDS don’t attack our aircraft and hold our soldiers as hostages:

The GOP says money is speech and that’s the end of electing conservatives.

Hunter’s problem is he can’t raise enough ‘free speech’.

Newt Gingrich said that he didn’t run because it is difficult for candidates to raise money (unless they’re personally wealthy) because of McCain/Feingold. (I’m paraphrasing because I can’t remember Gingrich’s exact words, of course.)

I read that John McCain raised 75% of his money from businesses. Of course, when McCain is pro-illegal immigration and some businesses get cheap labor from Mexico, it’s no surprise.

I also read that Duncan Hunter raised around 95% of his money from the grassroots’ folks. So it’s up to us.

Beats FRed 2 to 1 in almost every straw poll and nitwits have the audacity to say “he’s got no chance” based on their media-driven fraud “polls”.

That’s beating a dead horse!

You must be related to Giuliani, repeatedly telling a “joke” that wasn’t funny in the first place.

Tell your Cousin Rudy I said Howdy, & he ain’t gonna win.
