Phony Vets With Chutzpah (Phony vet decries phony vets)
RightBias News ^ | October 2, 2007 | Nancy Morgan

As our troops are engaged in an epic battle against sworn enemies of America, our elected officials take to the Senate floor, whining about a passing comment by a talk show host.

Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid scored a 'twofer'. He burnished his 'pro-troop' credentials while at the same time, attacking Rush Limbaugh. This was a masterful 'gotcha' moment. Senator Reid implored his fellow Senators to join him in condemning Limbaugh for a "hateful" and "unpatriotic" attack on U.S. troops. This, in response to a comment about 'phony vets' made by Rush Limbaugh.

Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa threw in his two cents, wondering aloud, on the floor of the U.S. Senate, if maybe Limbaugh 'was just high on drugs again.' Left unspoken was the fact that distinguished Senator Tom Harkin is exactly the type of phony vet Limbaugh was referring to.

so let me see... a blatant smear of the military by moveon, an organization not known for supporting the troops is ignored, yet an inadvdertant (at worse) comment by a person with a long history of supporting the troops is taken out of context as an illustration of troop abuse????

hypocracy - thy name is DEMOCRAT

It wasn’t inadvdertant, Rush and the caller were talking about actual phony soldiers. Creative contextual omissions by the Left made this No-story into a Non-Scandal..............

“Harkin boasted he had served a year in Vietnam flying F-4s and F-8s on combat air patrols....
Turns out this particular ‘phony vet’ had not seen combat in Vietnam, as he was busy serving as a ferry pilot in Atsugi, Japan. “

First Class Lying Phoney

Although I sure the author of this article means well, I think there is a little sloppy reporting going on here. The writer of the article uses the terms phony vets and phony soldiers interchangeably and also puts words in Rush’s mouth as far as the definition of phony ______. It's this type of writing that causes the issue to morph into something it isn't.

my opint is that given the history fo the individual, at the very worst there was a verbal slipup that was misinterpreted. the reality ifs that Rush said what he meant and the target of his statement was shifted in order to deflect criticism from the democrats failure to condemn moveon’s general betrayus ad.

kinda like blaming linda tripp for clinton’s affair with lewinsky

Don’t tell the lamestream media and Harry Reid’s staffers about “googling” the names of those “winter soldiers” the NYT is interviewing. It is so much more satisfying to leave research exposing phonies up to the pajamahadeen

Reid statement on the war in Iraq.
“I believe that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything.”

Reid statement on the surge.
“I think it’s failed, I say that without any question”

Reid message to our brave American soldiers.
“You’re risking your lives for nothing...”

Reid response when asked how he would respond if Petraeus gives a positive assessment of the war.
“I will choose not to believe it.”

Harry Reid is a certifiable American traitor by any definition. He should move to Pakistan and spend his retirement giving Ben Laden back rubs all day.

The funny thing about the pinkos is how they cannot accept that mass murdering lunatics are evil (Amadamnutjob, Chavez, Ben Laden) but have no problem calling our troops “cold blooded murderers” or calling for the death of Dick Cheney and President Bush. idiots all...

I am really amazed on how many people will believe this garbage. I went to work yesterday (I am surrounded by a couple of liberals from New Orleans) and they came up to me saying did you hear what Rush said about the troops? People at work know I am a Gulf War Vet, and was in Somalia. I said, did you even really know what the whole story was about? His repsonse was “if Harry Reid is proposing something, then it has to be serious” I just looked at him and said “you are the most uneducated moron I know, do your research then we can debate it” What is wrong with America today? I am 35, I was young during the 80’s when President Reagan, but it seems that that was the best time in my life. I joined the Navy in 1990 and soon after that all hell broke loose. Being a military member during these times were hard because you couldn't’t really voice your opinions of the Commander in Sleaze err Chief. I just go mad when I look at the news and see that we are losing our Nationalism, our American pride and our dignity. I am so tired of trying to appease everyone else on this planet that it effects our policies here in the United States. Maybe I should stop whining and take a Midol, but I am tired of this crap!!!

Thank you so much. It is just hard sometimes to remember why I served in the Navy in the first place with all the madness in our country. Then I look at my two little ones and then it all comes back to me.

Keep on em. The only way to teach an old dog new tricks is with sugar. Lead them to water. Let them taste real knowledge and truth. Set them free of their isolated prison of ignorance. Then invite them to join you here on FR.

Welcome and thank you for your service. My family owes you a debt of gratitude. Here is to hoping my 1-year old son never has to fight terrorists as a result of your sacrifice.
