david.... I understand your passion for the man you want elected for the job. I too love Hunter, as I do love Thompson but I don’t feel he can do it alone. Thomspon has already said he would not accept 2nd seat; therefore, my only hope to get Conservatives in the White House is a Thompson/Hunter ticket for 08. I have also thought about our future. I believe Thompson can clean up most of this mess we’re in within his 1st term. This will set Hunter up for the White House for the next 8 years after and will give the people plenty of time to know Hunter. I met Duncan Hunter at the GOEIII and I must say, I was very impressed, even more than I was prior to meeting him. But like I said, I’m looking the the most conservative electable ticket for 08 and for me, that is a Thompson/Hunter ticket. I believe they are our top 2 candidates.

Ideologically - that’d be a fine ticket. Electorally, there is little or no upside to having Duncan Hunter as a VP. He’s a no-name, with few supporters, and probably would bring ZERO voters that Thompson couldn’t carry on his own.
Personally - J.C. Watts, John Cornyn (Sen, TX), and Tommy Franks are my top three choices (probably in that order). They’re all strong conservatives, and I think they’d each have better coattails than Hunter.
Hunter wouldn’t be a bad choice ... I just don’t think he’d be that good a choice, either.
