Something to think about here... seriously...
If Fred Thompson would do the RIGHT THING, and withdraw from this race, I believe ALL of his supporters will get behind Duncan Hunter, and with 75% of FReepers united for for Duncan Hunter the Dems would be shaking in their boots.. If Fred really was "Drafted" by conservatives as so many folks claim he was needed because there was no real conservative in the race.. but we have Duncan Hunter, and Fred is just "splitting the vote" IMHO.
As folks get to know Duncan Hunter most come to the conslusion that he is CLEARLY the "Reagan-Conservative" in the race.
FOR AMERICA's SAKE -- DROP FRED - GO HUNTER !!
--- FRedHeads, don't take this as an attack on Fred, he just is not the RIGHT man for job at this time --- Duncan Hunter IS ! -------
As I mentioned before, today I called a national talk show about Duncan Hunter, and thought it would be a good day to do this, because the GOP debate will be tonight, and hearing his name on a talk show might get viewers of the debate to focus more on what Hunter has to say.
Even if we cant get through to the most popular talk shows, if every FReeper who supports Hunter even gets through to their local talk shows, thats a LOT of folks hearing Hunters name.
That's exactly the plan. Sadly, it's working well.
Man, you really do live in your own little world. Who said the primaries were over?
“Man, you really do live in your own little world. Who said the primaries were over?”
You’re posting as if the primaries are over, but the election process is just beginning Man!
Again, people are just starting to pay attention.
I’m posting as nothing of the sort. Though, the primaries may as well be for your candidate. His candidacy died at Ames. If Duncan were serious he would be where Mike Huckabee is right now and then he’d be a viable choice.
Just wait until DH starts campaigning. He gets stronger every day. This time next year he will be a steamroller, nuclear powered!
Huge incorrect assumption. Also not true.
>> (John Cox 2008: Because Duncan Hunter just isn’t obscure enough for me!)
This marks the first time I’ve ever actually laughed out-loud at a tagline.
Come November 2008, the country will be debating Fred Thompson vs. Hillary Clinton ... and the choice will be clear. There’s little difference between Thompson and Hunter, and Thompson actually has a reasonable shot at (1)being nominated, and (2) being elected.
I’ve recently come to the conclusion that many Hunter supporters are simply contrarians ... the political equivalent of music-snobs or film-snobs - to whom anything gaining actual reasonable popularity must somehow be flawed. They seek obscure candidates - just as music snobs seek obscure music ... and anyone drawing more than 5% is too popular to the stupid masses to actually be a good candidate.

Because, if conservative divide their votes, we'll end up being stuck with someone completely unacceptable and unelectable like Giuliani.
Thanks! :)
I think you’re right about the contrarian thing. Lord knows what they’re going to do when he drops out.
I think you’re both right about the contrarian thing. Hunter’s had close to a year to get his message out and build support. Not getting anywhere, then supporters are telling Fred he should drop out? That is over the top contrarian.
>Paperdoll...you’re (sic) spiel is getting old....<
Perhaps you would understand if you can find ‘Why I’m Not a Republican’, by Jerome Corsi in WND 9/25/07.
Bingo. That bears repeating.
I think Thompson’s candidacy pretty much wiped out the bottom-tier candidates. They were useful when the frontrunners were moderate-Giuliani and wishywashy-Romney ... and there was not a clear conservative choice.
Thompson’s entry pretty much ends the candidacies of Hunter, McCain, Huckabee, Brownback, Tancredo, Keyes (even before it started), and probably Romney.
The entry of a conservative frontrunner should have no effect on the Paul candidacy ... he doesn’t draw much actual conservative support.
The choice is between conservative Thompson, or moderate Giuliani. Conservatives must unite behind Thompson - or we might end up having to vote for Giuliani in November (to avoid President Hillary).
H
What is that? Are you saying these are all Hunter ‘earmarks’?
Or are they earmarks inserted by others on a bill that Hunter voted for, and that your favorite president signed?
How ‘bout a link?
