Good to hear from you, g_w! Nice piece.
Do you also wonder when Columbia University will extend (and not then rescind) a speaking invitation to poor old Larry Summers? And what about this? Either being invited to speak at Columbia University is an honor or it is not an honor:
- if it is not an honor, then why should anybody wish to speak at Columbia University or care what speakers at Columbia University say (that is, Columbia University is no great shakes in the scheme of things)?;
- if it is an honor, then Columbia University, by inviting and then allowing Ahmadinejad to speak, has conferred honor upon a terrorist (that is, Columbia University is run by people who lack both judgment and honor).
We're talking a 'lose-lose' situation for Columbia University and its reputation here. I suspect that this fiasco will reverberate through the years...
I also suspect that returning to Minnesota was a good thing for you and yours. I'm sure Arizona has many good qualities, but the heat and aridity seem likely to intensify in the coming years.
All the best...
