Rudy Takes a Weak Swing at Fred

While in Texas yesterday, Rudy took a weak swing at Fred's comments on Friday regarding Osama Bin Laden.

Without mentioning the former senator and actor by name, Giuliani took umbrage with Thompson’s statement on Friday that 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden is "more symbolism than anything else."

“It is just not symbolic,” said Giuliani following a brief reception for about 150 supporters outside the stadium. “If you think its just symbolic, I’m not sure you understand the full depth of Islamic terrorism.”

“If you can remove some of that leadership you will see an ability to roll it back,” he later added. “So the capture of Bin Laden should not be seen as just a symbolic thing. It is, and its important to capture him. But its not just symbolic.”

You just got a glimpse folks, of what is going to be Rudy's mantra against Fred and all of his opponents. He's going to try to position himself as the all knowing, terrorism expert.

Any time from now to the primaries that Fred talks about terrorism, look for Rudy to try to one up him. Expect to see the "I’m not sure you understand the full depth of Islamic terrorism” line.

In this case, Rudy's attack is pretty weak. In these comments, Fred was pointing out to people that Osama is the face of Al Qaeda, but not the whole body. Eventually, when we either kill him or capture him, we have to realize that the war does not end on that day. There will be many more heads that need to be rolled.

Rudy took these comments and spun them off as if Fred was saying that it would be "no big deal" if we nailed Osama. That was not the point and Rudy's people know it. They decided that it was politically expedient to distort Fred's words for their own political gain.

When you look at it that way, you can see that all Rudy's big swing got him was nothing more than a foul ball.

All Fred needs to say is “Mr. Mayor, as chairman of the International Security Advisory Board for the last several years, I think I know a little something about Islamic terrorism. The Al Qaeda threat has evolved since 2002.”

He's dead Jim.

Let's focus on the operatives.

And Rootie talks symbolism adversely toward another candidate?

I’m going to go ahead and say it...

Am I the only one who suspects Giuliani is GLAD September 11 happened?

"I SERVED IN 9/11, DAMNIT! HOW DARE YOU QUESTION MY PATRIOTISM!"

Also Rudy crossed the Hudson River on Christmas morning in a surprise attack against Hessian squee-gee men.

It's nothing else but a fear driven promotion by the Rootie camp.

Rudy has already tried to diss Thompson by saying "I was a prosecutor and he just plays one on TV". Of course Thompson was a federal prosecutor too.

The fact is that Osama bin Laden is nothing more than a symbol. He's dead. What more can he be?

Rooty`s rhetoric is getting weak and his campaign message is losing steam the longer he opens his big mouth. Conservative Fred knocked 21% points off Rooty`s back in late March. Now Fred’s basically tied with Rooty. If Fred doesn’t crash and burn (/sarc), I expect him to overtake Rooty in the next mouth and build on a solid lead in the 60-90 days afterwards.

“Rudy Takes a Weak Swing at Fred”

He’s going to have to work on getting that swish out of his wrist.

Oh goody!

Thompson supporters and Rudybots in a fight to the finish over who gets a deck chair on the Titanic!

Gentlemen, the present Republican Pre-Primary infighting is about as interesting as Lady Midget Wrestling, and if we don't shape up, we'll draw about the same in the election as the tough little ladies do at the arena.

As a believable candidate, Hunter is head and shoulders above Rudy and Fred, but even HE is going nowhere fast. We got a problem.

Hey, Rudy... how long did it take you to realize that Empire State Building shooter, Ali Abu Kamal, was a terrorist? 10 YEARS!!!

Rudy was too busy touting Federal gun control to see the real enemy under his very nose!

The United States Congress needs to pass uniform licensing for everyone carrying a gun.
Congress must do more to prevent a tragedy like the one that happened at the
Empire State Building from ever happening again.

Sorry l'il devil.

Yo, no dissrespeck! Actually my adopted 1/2 sister is appearing tomorrow night at the Roller Derby Arena in Akron, OH, under the name "Strawberry Shortcake." It's on cable channel 761, right after the Ginsu Knife Special. 3:30 AM EDT.

It's going to be as exciting as a Romney speech. A Paul Pronouncement. A Pro-Fred Freep. A Rudy-Retort, a McCain Cat Scan. Come to think of it, these guys are midget wrestling personified.

Hunter has not gotten any traction in 3 months. If I thought he had a chance to win, I'd throw my support behind him 100%. But he doesn't. So I'm going with the most conservative candidate who has a chance of beating Giuliani. That is Thompson. He may not be the best candidate, but he is 100 times better than Giuliani and 100,000,000 times better than anyone the democrats will throw out at us.

Both Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson have been United States Attorneys, while Fred has also been a United States Senator, a foreign policy expert for the Council on Foreign Relations and a committee chairman in the Senate, as well as special counsel, Senate Committee on Foreign Relations 1980-1981; and special counsel, Senate Intelligence Committee 1982. So how does a mayor beat that, unless he’s disingenuous?

Yeah, Fred is better than Rudy, and maybe Duncan beats'em both, ideologically speaking. So the frikken what?

Whoever beats whom has to beat whatever scumknuckle the Democrats come up with, or we're outa here for a long, long time. Pardon me, but I see no winners in the Republican free-for-all. No fire. No pizzaz. No oratory. No nothin'.

I seriously think we ought to retire Petraeus (or equivalent) and run the hell out of a military man. I ain't kidding. We need Eisenhower.

Not a one of our present contenders has really made the case for the War against Islamic Terror, Tax Reform, Immigration Reform, etc. in a way that attracts voters. I'll vote for whatever Republican survives the selection process.

But I would much prefer a winner to a survivor.

Too many voters are anti-military, wary of authoritarianism & war-weary to nominate a general for president. Fred Thompson will protect the country, secure the borders, abide by the constitution and do what is necessary to fight the war on terror. Isn’t that what you and I are looking for, when you boil it all down?
