Physicians as Killers
Family Practice News ^ | August 1, 2007 | JAMSHID A. MARVASTI, M.D.

DR. MARVASTI is an adult and child psychiatrist in Manchester, Conn. He is the author of “Psycho-Political Aspects of Suicide Bombers, Terrorism, and Martyrdom: A Critical View From ‘Both Sides’ in Regard to Cause and Cure” (Springfield, Ill.; Charles C. Thomas Publisher Ltd., in press).

The failed car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow have startled many. One of the biggest surprises is that the alleged would-be terrorists are physicians or medical students–people who take an oath to save lives. But throughout human history, those in our profession have been involved in revolutions, “freedom fighting,” and human atrocities.

Not long ago, a small number of American physicians and nurses were involved in not treating black patients with syphilis (the Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male, 1932-1972) to witness/explore the end states of this killer disease. Che Guevara, the Marxist revolutionary, was a physician. George Habash, a pediatrician, led a Palestinian militant group, and Ayman al-Zawahiri–the No. 2 Al Qaeda leader–is a surgeon. And we all know the horrendous role that physicians played in Nazi Germany.

We find ourselves asking: What happened to the dictum: First, do no harm? Looking at the question in context might spark a deeper understanding of these bomber/warriors.

Physicians are part of their communities, and may not be detached from the trends and opinions of their cultures. In the 1800s, some physicians–like their fellow citizens–believed slavery to be a legitimate and necessary enterprise.

It is widely reported that more than 600,000 Iraqi civilians have died since the U.S.-led invasion–one that promised to bring prosperity and security to the region. Many living in the Middle East, rightly or wrongly, blame the West for this tragedy. Mirroring their communities, a small number of doctors advocate or justify violence as a reaction to perceived injustices.

Physicians as Killers

Hey, let's get rid of all the physicians, hospitals, nurses, pharma companies and ambulance companies. That we, we can return to the good ol' days of yore, where life expectancies were in the forties.

Poverty, lack of education, employment, and class status do not appear to be contributing factors in these cases.

Good so far.

The literature shows that the key motivation of many suicide bombers was the invasion and occupation of their land, home, or holy place.

Uh, no. Perhaps a perception of that is used to motivate them, but the truth is, there's an underlying violence that is not attributable to any supposed occupation.

Nah, just didnt't click on newb blog pimp post, and instead commented on the headline, since his writings are so special that he can't share an excerpt with us. Nothing like a blogger who thinks he's USA Today.

Amazing the political drivel that ends up in "medical" publications. My favorite line from this incoherent ramble:

We also must remember that we have lawful means in which to show our objections to perceived invaders: In the West, the power of the ballot is stronger than the force of the bullet in changing policies.

Sounds like he's saying we could have gone to the polls and voted the 9/11 attackers away. Sure we could have, if we'd voted to turn over our entire country to a bunch of extremist Muslims. Would have been a little tough on the female half of our population. Among other things, the Islamofascists don't let women see doctors no matter how badly they need medical attention, because an unrelated male isn't allowed to see a square inch of their skin and they're not allowed to speak to unrelated males. That's a brand of "peace" that's not worth having.

I stopped reading here.

Maybe if you’d bothered to read the article, or even glance at it, before making smart-ass comments, you’d have seen that it’s not a blog. It’s an Elsevier-published medical periodical and Elsevier is way serious about protecting its copyrights.

Maybe if the newb posted an excerpt, one could tell the difference. I NEVER click on a newb's link when there isn't an excerpt. Safe computing, quite frankly.

LOL! IMNG/Elsevier's Family Practice News is hardly a blog! Agreed, however, that an excerpt would have been appropriate.

What’s the point in trying to shove this sort of thing off FR? Don’t you think it’s a good idea for FReepers to be aware that mainstream medical periodicals aimed at family physicians are printing this sort of thing? Regardless of the poster’s intentions, I think it’s a good thing to get this reminder of the leftist drivel that the medical establishment is perpetually trying to brainwash its rank and file with. This is the same medical establishment that’s trying to march us toward Hillarycare.

Maybe the newbie was being careful not to cause FR copyright trouble. There are now a lot of sources which have requested link-only postings on FR, and it’s not easy to find out which ones they are. Much easier to find out that www.familypracticenews.com is a legitimate medical publication.

Problem is the first oath and ONLY REAL oath those guys take.
That is to Islam.
And it's a virtue to deceive people in order to advance the
expansion of Islam.

Hence, no real shocker to find Muslim physicians that really
practice Islam actually trying to be mass murderers.

Well, now that I clicked on the link, I found a most aromatic line in the article:

History shows that under certain circumstances, mentally stable people have felt justified in deliberately killing nonmilitary citizens. Take the case of commanders who ordered the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

If that don't reek of flaming liberalism, I don't know what does. TRUMAN, a DEMOCRAT, ordered the nukes. And was right in doing such.

I no longer smell blog pimp. I smell liberal troll now.

If the poster’s intent was to promote loony-leftist ideas, he has certainly failed. He has exposed yet another nest of homegrown enemies of freedom. Fine with me. I want them all out in the open where we can keep a close eye on them. The medical profession needs to be a major target for defenders of the Constitution. The continuing incremental socialization of medical care in this country is not happening without their support.
