What he SAID many years ago was made up for by what he actually DID in Congress. His pro-life record was excellent and he received high ratings from pro-life groups and zero ratings from pro-abortion groups.
We've been over and over this statement so many times on Free Republic, but we can always count on some idiot or newbie (or both) to bring it up again to try to hurt Fred Thompson.
Is he the most conservative candidate in the race? No. Is he the most conservative candidate who is demonstrating that he has a chance of winning the race? Yes. Is he conservative enough. Yes. His record, while not perfect, is good enough. He's certainly more conservative than our current President and that's good enough for me.

Wow. The fredbot tactics are getting really disturbing. So far on this thread I have counted at least two pings to Jim Robinson, which I guess is an attempt to “tell on me”, for what I’m not exactly sure.
Now they are trying to make it seem like only “idiots” oppose Fred Thompson. I have news for you: Normal people do not worship Fred. When normal people hear that he is a social conservative and then see that he made statements like this, they are bothered by it.
Now if you want, you can disagree with me but I don’t really understand why you fredbots are trying to crush all dissent from the right. We must all accept Fred I guess...

Mitt Romney vetoed every single pro-abort law the Massachusetts legislature sent to him. He is just as conservative as Fred Thompson. If you want to play fair. ;) But I have a feeling a lot of you guys don’t. :)

Now if we don’t go over the statements on Free Republic and analyze them. How will be public be able too. Supposedly FREEPERS like each other or it is supposed to be that way. The general public does not so do you think that they are going to be fair with the statements? I doubt it. How do you think the media is going to spin these statements that Fred wrote down? Why get upset with Duncan Hunter supporters if we are just debating? Is Fred not going to be debating these issues? Will he just get upset like some on this site? I hope not because if Fred is ultimately the candidate he is going to have to be strong enough to fight the democrat.
