Abortion - Don't just hold Rudy and Mitt accountable, remember Fred
Spark it Up ^ | June 24, 2007

We are holding Rudy and Mitt to the fire about their past on abortion. Lets not forget Fred Thompson.

Abortions should be legal in all circumstances as long as the procedure is completed within the first trimester of the pregnancy. Link

A very strong statement from Fred Thompson when he was running for congress.

A Duncan Hunter blogger trying to smear Thompson.

I like both Thompson and Hunter personally however this thread is only promoting a scenario for the demise of both IMO.

Why shouldn’t we be concerned about Fred Thompson’s support for murder?

Lying about conservatives is a big problem here....a problem for you.

Fred Thompson SenateMatch/VoteMatch questionnaire response:

STRONGLY OPPOSES topic 1: “Abortion is a woman’s right”

http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Fred_Thompson_SenateMatch.htm

*****

National Right to Life Committee on Fred Thompson:

“This morning, I cited reports being promoted by the pro-Romney blog Evangelicals for Mitt suggesting that Fred Thompson ran his two campaigns for Senate in Tennessee as a pro-choicer. Not so, National Right to Life executive co-director Darla St. Martin just told me.

St. Martin said that she went down to Tennessee in 1994 to speak with Thompson personally when he first ran for Senate, and that she determined he was against abortion.

‘I interviewed him and on all of the questions I asked him, he opposed abortion,’ St. Martin said. She told me that the group went on to support him in that election, and his record reinforced for her that their determination was correct.

‘He has a consistent voting record that is pro-life,’ she said.

On the NRLC website, they archive their congressional ratings back to 1997, so they include six of his eight years in the Senate. Thompson took the pro-life position on every vote he cast on the abortion issue...”

So Evangicals for Mitt is bearing false witness against Fred.

Some evangicals - they can't even abide by the 10 Commandments.

“Now you’re just trolling. I have nothing further to say to you.”

LOL so now trolling means pointing out the statements of politicians who might be running for president.

But of course, posting “Duncan Who” in Duncan Hunter threads is just good, honest political debate, right?

If a man who is running for office claims that he supports the killing of unborn babies, that’s just as horrible as if he actually voted to kill them.

No. It's not.

I FRIGGIN AGREE WITH YOU! I have stated numerous times that his pro life voting record is commendable, but that some of his statements on abortion trouble me. What’s wrong with that? Why can’t I question the almighty Fred Thompson?

...we can’t afford to vote for a man who once claimed to support their death.

"We?"

How about you actually try debating me instead of trying to tell on me like a 2 year old?

I AM NOT LYING ABOUT FRED THOMPSON! Did he or did he not make these statements?

Are the Fred-bashers still this stupid!!?

What he SAID many years ago was made up for by what he actually DID in Congress. His pro-life record was excellent and he received high ratings from pro-life groups and zero ratings from pro-abortion groups.

We've been over and over this statement so many times on Free Republic, but we can always count on some idiot or newbie (or both) to bring it up again to try to hurt Fred Thompson.

Is he the most conservative candidate in the race? No. Is he the most conservative candidate who is demonstrating that he has a chance of winning the race? Yes. Is he conservative enough. Yes. His record, while not perfect, is good enough. He's certainly more conservative than our current President and that's good enough for me.

Civilized people don’t express their support for abortion just because it happens to be legal, just like civilized people didn’t support slavery just because it was legal.

And the band plays on....

No wonder Osama totes the mindset to wait and let America destroy themselves from within.

We have plenty here that will do his bidding for him and not even realize that they are doing it.

You rob21 are promoting terrorism stateside because you haven't shown any aggressiveness to stifle it and that will kill many more than your concerning efforts to stifle abortion.

LOL so now trolling means pointing out the statements of politicians who might be running for president.

There's a huge difference between taking statements out of context to suit an agenda (despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary and despite that it's against the Forum rules) and jokingly pretend a candidate doesn't exist.

I didn’t try to tell on you like a 2 year old, and I find it hard to debate liars.

I pinged the site owner to an instance of smearing one conservative to promote another. Many have been banned for such slimy behavior.

“We’ve been over and over this statement so many times on Free Republic, but we can always count on some idiot or newbie (or both) to bring it up again to try to hurt Fred Thompson.”

Wow. The fredbot tactics are getting really disturbing. So far on this thread I have counted at least two pings to Jim Robinson, which I guess is an attempt to “tell on me”, for what I’m not exactly sure.

Now they are trying to make it seem like only “idiots” oppose Fred Thompson. I have news for you: Normal people do not worship Fred. When normal people hear that he is a social conservative and then see that he made statements like this, they are bothered by it.

Now if you want, you can disagree with me but I don’t really understand why you fredbots are trying to crush all dissent from the right. We must all accept Fred I guess...
