i need some help, please.

i messed up--unplugged my pc too hastily which corrupted the software, and had to re-format my hard disk. this requires, of course, re-installing every piece of software, and my ad-aware, firefox, zone alarm, etc.

my problem is the appearance and “feel” of everything. my mouse is jumpy, and using the cursor to move down the screen is jumpy. the typefaces are different. even writing this post is problematic; the cursor jumps from line to line occasionally.

my copy of ms xp is apparently an older version of xp. for example, the desktop picture is the green fields and blue sky that i remember buying in october, 2001 when xp was just released.

i re-installed the operating system from an hp cd labelled “microsoft windows xp home edition service pack2”.

my question—where do i go to get my old “feel” xp? is it a newer version? if so, why didn’t hp pos send that last year when i bought the ‘puter? (march, 2006).

hewlett packard? i’m now off warranty.

thanks, ken

Ah, yes. The old “feel” indeed.
