It is very important to remember that unlike Black Americans, bigotry against Mexican Americans is still not being fully addressed.
Amnesty should continue to be part of our approach when attempting to solve our immigration problems with Mexico. The contributions hard-working Mexican Americans make to our society easily wipe out any so-called "free benefits" legal or non-legal immigrants may obtain through local, state, and federal programs.
Unlike some other Americans, many Mexican Americans are good people who possess a deep faith in Almighty God. Therefore they deserve to be treated with compassion & respect. In addition, we should double or triple the number of immigrants allowed on an annual basis with our friends from Mexico.
We must not forget that it is only with great difficulty & through hard work at low-paying jobs few other Americans want that many Mexicans eventually become citizens of the United States. It truly a blessing that so many Mexicans seek the opportunities the USA offers, & we should be honored to receive them in greater numbers into our country.
So now we can’t post a photo relevant to the issue just because it has an offending hand gesture posed by “good” Mexicans? There’s a lot of the same shot posted throughout FR. I guess you’d better get busy, you have a long day ahead of you finding and removing those.
Not according to John McCain:
John McCain Warns Illegal Immigration Enforcement Could Lead to Riots
No. Probation and a fine is not enough. Thirty days in jail and deportation is enough. On the first offense. Second offense let’s make it ninety. And if they try it again, two years. That would be enough. Now that I think about it, let’s skip the middle part and go straight to the two years.
Same for those who employ them.
Catholic Marxist Theology (and I am a Catholic).
I think you’re on to something. Individuals may be “good” or “bad”, but the bible says we are none of us good, not one. MEXICANS are citizens of a foreign power. That tells us nothing about their goodness.
They don’t want to be treated as Americans. THey want to do whatever they damn well please. I would call them anarchists. We should never forget that they come from a failed socialist state and they know nothing else.
Mexicans are even nicer at home.
Sure they are. That's why I'm glad they have a country as noce as Mexico to live in.
Get out of mine.
There was plenty of restraint shown. It was the price of getting the war funding through — it was in the same bill. I’m ok with it I think. I knew when the rats took power that we were going to end up having to let them have it, I only hoped we’d get something worthwhile in return.
Course we know that all it’s going to do is put a bunch more people who are playing by the rules out of a job as unscrupulous employers hire illegals who don’t give a flip about minimum wage as long as they get paid in cash.
Good people sometimes do things that are wrong. In those instances they must face the consequences of their actions. Good people accept this, acknowledge that they were wrong, and accept the punishment that is due. If those Mexicans who illegally came into this country are prepared to do this, and return to Mexico, then I would encourage all Americans to accept their apologies and forgive them.
Somehow, however, I don’t see this happening. So, the question becomes, are those who come here illegally, breaking American law, good people if they won’t face the fact of their illegal acts?
I am not honored to receive into my country ANYBODY who sneaks in illegally. And as for their being GOd-fearing good people - God fearing good people do not form gangs, intimidate the people around them, run drug and prostitutes, etc. Do not try to paint these people as harmless little lettuce pickers who live on 3 cents a day and never complain. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call CRAP.
The author makes no distinction between legal and illegal immigration. In the current context, this is a call to violate US laws. I cannot condone this incitement to lawlessness. It shows a lack of respect for America and Americans. It probably stems from concerns about differences in wealth. Coveting the wealth of others is a sin that is common among the left, even the religious left. It is a sin that has proved harmful to individuals and nations alike. This is a foolish and morally wrong message, and should be repudiated by all Catholics. Their concern should be for lost souls. Maybe that concern no longer motivates them.
I’m sure Mexicans are good people. But why can’t they be good people in Mexico? One must answer this question correctly if one is to truly help Mexicans.
Mexicans who obey the law may be good people. Criminal invaders certainly are not.
Because fighting for change in mexico would require, on a very large scale, a degree of organization and discipline not available to very many mexicans. They are OK in small groups - gangs. Rather than fight for and build up something for themselves in mexico, they would much rather come here and take what we have.
This is a ridiculous lie. Did you even read as far as the second sentence of the article you posted to?
First, they were “illegal aliens”
Next, they were “undocumented workers”
Next, they were “immigrants”
Now, they are “Mexican Americans”
Mr. Bemowski, you can change the name all you like. But it doesn’t change the fact that they broke the law by entering this country without authorization.
At a minimum, they are criminals. By law. By definition. How they conduct themselves after they broke the law is irrelevant. They are still criminals.
Next, Mr. Bemowski, I challenge you to prove to me that they are indeed “Mexican”. The fact of the matter is, without documentation and authorization, we simply do not know this.
It’s difficult to be compassionate towards people who are trashing your property, harming your lifestock, running drugs and prostitutes, breaking into your home, bleeding the system for all they can get, gang-fighting in the streets, etc. I feel no compassion for these people at all. And maybe you should get a good look at all the video footage and pictures of these mexicans at the pro-immigration amnesty rallies. No sympathy here. Send them home NOW.
