Barack Oprahbama and Those 10,000 MPG Japanese Cars
The Minority Report ^ | 10 May 2007 | .cnI redruM

Posted on 05/10/2007 9:53:34 AM PDT by .cnI redruM

Barack Oprahbama just flew into Detroit this week and gosh his arms must have been tired. Barack says the darndest things when he’s tired. He let his true lack of experience and judgment shine through when addressing automobile mileage standards.

"While our fuel standards haven't moved from 27.5 miles per gallon in two decades, both China and Japan have surpassed us, with Japanese cars now getting an average of 45 miles to the gallon," Obama said.

The hybrid Prius does pretty well, but the Japanese still lack access to the Starship Enterprise’s Transporter Room. Toyota offered a modest fact-check to the Cutest and Most Exciting Presidential Candidate Ever! Perhaps if Oprahbama wasn’t so busy being young and vivacious, he could hire someone to seriously research issues before he bemoaned the 10,000 tornado deaths in Kansas.

"I'm not sure where he got that figure," Toyota spokesman Mike Michels said. "No carmaker gets 45 m.p.g. Ours is closer to 30 m.p.g."

Oprahbama failed to mention, that of the three countries he selected for comparison, the United States was the only one that mandated any minimum constraint on fuel economy. The market is currently doing a better job than the government at mandating fuel economy.

These foreign auto makers were doing something Henry Ford inveighed against. They were asking customers radical questions. Things such as “What would you like on your next car?”

You could say his falsehoods are swirling out of control. They might even blow his campaign away. Missing the number of deaths in the Greensburg, Kansas tornado by 9,990 was a wee bit more than just a rounding error.

Or maybe it’s all a strategy. You could call it The Audacity of Bull S---! Lie big enough; and the audience will eventually fall for it.

I keep waiting for Hillary to suggest he has difficulty with the truth. My sense of irony truly enjoys moments like that. This also offers us a glimpse at why Obama may be able to spread the fertilizer without even stinking. Take a look at his two major opponents.

John Edwards has just explained that he spent a couple of years wheeling and dealing for a hedge fund, because it would help him understand money better. Perhaps he intended to learn by putting himself in close proximity to several very large piles of it. He could thereby leverage the advantages of a large sample size.

And then there is the presumptive queen, herself. Hillary has recently decided that large oil companies intentionally break their refineries to stick motorists with higher gas prices.

"Many of my constituents are suspicious of the timing and cause of these refinery outages," said Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.).

The Senator from New York should be more suspicious of the fact that the United States hasn’t built a new refinery since Larry Hagman still played the villainous J.R. Ewing on the television show Dallas. This would involve taking a serious look at the problem and getting some facts, instead of mobilizing the ignorant peasantry against big, evil corporations like Lou Dobbs in a hideous pant suit.

So while Barack Oprahbama sells the super-sized whoppers, like another evil corporation, Mickey-D’s, it doesn’t make him really stand out. The truth has been dead and buried for the vast majority of the time any of the top three Democratic Presidential contenders has addressed the issues of the day.

We all know that truth is the first casualty of war. We all know that the DNC script Howard Dean shops to party members calls for them to blame every ill on the planet on The War In Iraq. So Barack Oprahbama should follow the cynical example of Governor Sibelius and blame George W. Bush’s War In Iraq for his inability to get even the most fundamental set of facts straight when he addresses the public.

Barck's so gosh-darn cute that he doesn't have to tell the truth.

He can say anything he wants and the MSM won’t hold him accountable. And he knows that.

I liked that line, too! Maybe, just maybe, Hil’s too smart to go that route, but I hope she does!

I was watching ‘Special Report’ last night listening to Mia give B.O. a pass for ‘being tired’ and saying there were 10,000 deaths in Greenfield, Kansas, and thankfully, one of the other panelists mentioned that the same pass would not be given to President Bush or any of the GOP candidates.

Fuel figures he quoted were probably kilometers/gallon, not MPG. Either too inept to know the difference, or too devious. 45 km/gal works out to around 28 MPG. Whatever happened to “gravitas”?

If GWB hadn’t gotten us into the war in Iraq, Obama and Hillary wouldn’t be making these errors.

It’s all W’s fault. Just ask the MSM.

If you don’t know the facts, do like all Democrats, just make it up; anyhow, when should facts and correct information matter, it’s a MSM sound bite world.

Just be black and make your mouth move; your a Harvard educated depressed minority, you deserve to be president, and if you were female - slam dunk!

You’ve got to give the guy a break. After all Al Gore said the seas were going to rise 24 feet and scientists said he got it wrong he didn’t have to apologize or retract. When Bill said “I did not have”— you know the rest, he got a pass. In fact, it’s been established now that oral sex isn’t. Sex I mean. Hillary said she lost those billing records. Sandy Burglar said he forgot those secrets were in his socks and boxers.

The list goes on forever and Obama’s little slip ups aren’t even in the same league as the rest. Give him time.
