9/11 Rudy on Display
The Christian Broadcasting Network - The Brody File ^ | 5/1/07

Posted on 05/01/2007 12:59:22 PM PDT by areafiftyone

Do you want to know why some Evangelicals will support Rudy Giuliani in 2008? One word: LEADERSHIP. And guess what? Giuliani's campaign has a quick video out today about that very topic. Click here to view. For those who think Rudy support from conservative Christians will begin to fall off when they begin to hear about some of his more liberal social views, I'm not so sure. The feedback were gettting here at The Brody File is more positive than I thought. When I talk to just ordinary Evangelicals, they always ask me to breakdown the presidential race. But I ask them what they think of Giuliani. I'm always getting the same answer. That answer is basically this: "Yeah, I heard about those marriages and some of that liberal stuff but I don't know. There just seems to be something about him. I guess I like that straight talk. That black and white view. He may just be the guy right now to take on these radical extremists."

And that, ladies and gentlemen is why the Giuliani campaign is confident. The strategy is clearly to keep talking about leadership, lower taxes, lower crime and Reagan. If they can win at the margins on the social issues, then that just may be enough to move Rudy into the final bonus round. (General Election)

He's not a sure thing; he has enough baggage to fill the cargo hold of a cruise ship. His sundry personal-life issues bother social conservatives; the gun control stance dismays the Second Amendment wing of the party; the pro-choice opinions alarm the evangelicals. That leaves about 47 Republicans, right? After all, it's just a party of cousin-marrying yahoos who'd sooner shoot up Planned Parenthood than vote for one of those fish-on-Friday types.

Right?

No. Voters are more flexible and forgiving than you might expect. And none of the objections obscure the central appeal of the Rudy candidacy: He'll nuke 'em if he has to. That won't be the central theme of his campaign, of course, but it's the unstated strength of his candidacy.

He's not a wuss.

Leadership is about more than going on television after a disaster.

There just seems to be something about him. I guess I like that straight talk.

He was for civil unions before he was against them. He was briefed on Bernie Kerik's possible mob ties but does not recall the briefing (sound familiar?) He will appoint strict constructionists but a strict constructionist could uphold Roe. He is personally opposed to abortion but addressed NARAL twice and would pay for his granddaughter to have an abortion. He's in favor of the 2nd Amendment but addressed Handgun Inc. rallies.

Straight talk? Yeah, the same way McCain is a straight talker.

Yeah, I heard about those marriages and some of that liberal stuff

Wait until they find out that "liberal stuff" includes a belief that public funding of abortions is a constitutional right.

When I talk to "ordinary evangelicals"...
hmmm does that mean people who have just seen Rudy from a MSM viewpoint and don't care about his credentials?

Well then you have a bunch of idiots that are talking to the CBN (which I don’t think is the case) because all that stuff has been out in the MSM including Video coverage. Unless they are living in a cave in Afghanistan they heard all about it.

LOL! Check out FR and do a search on Rudy and there are links deluxe there for you to choose from. FR is not exactly pro-Rudy and posts as much anti-Rudy stuff as can be gleaned from the corners of the MSM, blogsphere and entire internet.

This is the Brody File from the Christian Broadcasting Network. Part of the 700 Club. If anyone knows the pulse of evangelicals its the CBN.

Amen. I really don’t get the Rudy phenomenon. I’m not sure how he did that great a job in handling 9/11, other than appearing firm yet calm for a couple weeks.

People get led to commit adultery, abortion, and homosexuality everyday. Just because someone is a leader doesn’t mean they’re good for America.

I don’t get it either. And as one of the few people that have read the 9/11 Commission Report and some of the ‘after action’ reports following the 1993 WTC bombing...I don’t get the hero status following 9/11 either...aside from people just wanting some sort of comforting.

From fullchroma

Rudy Giuliani is the beneficiary of a peculiar “baby duck syndrome.” Like baby ducks who will identify anything as “mom” in the first two weeks of life, united America bonded with Guiliani after 9/11. He galvanized and lead us when we were afraid and felt small and helpless......... Guiliani is less a real Republican and viable candidate for the GOP nomination for President than he is a mother duck.

Leadership is about more than going on television after a disaster.

There's no Koran in Rudy's TV future, and Hillary would have taken that Saudi Prince's check.
