I've been asked (by kevmo) to post this as its own thread. I offer this just as one more hypothesis worth exploring. This afternoon, on another thread, nonsporting mentioned that he came across a psychiatrist by the name of Dr. Ismail AK, and then I took it from there and did more research. That there would be a psychiatric expert specializing in the very set of issues involving Cho--suicidal tendencies, depression, antisocial behavior, medication, violent crime--and that this psychiatric expert's name is ISMAIL AK, which could easily be written or misread as ISMAIL AX . . . this was too much of a coincidence to just brush off.

Dr. Ismail Ak lives in Turkey. But Cho could have come across the name by doing Internet or library research, e-mail correspondence, etc., on the types of issues that evidently affected him.

Interesting. But what would be his connection to Cho?

It wouldn’t surprise me if they find an e-mail from Ismail Ak to Cho describing his precise mental condition: “Just plain NUTS!!!”

DING! DING! DING! Your Ismail Ak theory has just made the bigtime. Check out the update on this HotAir
POST. I would tell you the name of the person who sent this to them but I'm much too (BLUSH!) modest.
In any event, if your Ak theory holds up, it will now be hard to deny who came up with that scoop in the first place.

Transposing the 'ai' to 'ia' Google comes up with a closely related psychological problem with the search words 'ismial ax.' It's a pdf file or I would have linked it. AX is an acronym for 'Anger Expression Scale.' Ismial is in the link description by can't decypher what it relates to:

Makes some sense, especially in this context:
"Described as silent and standoffish, he had shown recent signs of violent, aberrant behavior, according to an investigative source, including setting a fire in a dorm room and allegedly stalking some women.
"A search warrant for Cho's dorm room after the shootings stated that a bomb threat against the engineering school buildings was found near Cho's body, The New York Times reported. The warrant mentioned two other bomb threat notes against the campus received over the past three weeks.
"Investigators believe Cho at some point had been taking medication for depression.
"School officials said Cho posted a deadly warning on a school online forum: "im going to kill people at vtech."
"Like Cho himself, it seems the warning was ignored.

Good sleuthing, but I just find it hard to believe. Could be an incredible coincidence.
If the man were on the East Coast of the US, I’d think it more plausible.
But, 1 never knows. Especially with a nut!

I think we need to explore the possibilities, because it’s very doubtful that the FBI or the press will do so.
But I have two problems with this.
1) Ismail Ak has no known connection with Cho, and is not widely known in America so far as I know.
2) Even if he were Cho’s psychiatrist, why would a crazed killer write his psychiatrist’s name on his arm? It doesn’t seem at all likely. What such people write on their arms or tattoo on their bodies is some emblem that they take as their model or ideal, not their controller. A demon, a dragon, a naked lady, a hero, something that represents the kind of image they want to project.

Alternate speculation follows.
Assuming VT as an engineering school (sorry, I know next to nothing about it) teaches computer science, programming etc, perhaps the shooter had some knowledge of programming? So - again, pure speculation - maybe Ismale Ax meant something to him personnaly as partial computer code. Something along the lines of boolean “Ismale” and machine language “Ax” - accumlated number of a male or some such?
If he was into any kind of Christian religious symbolism or whatever, maybe “the number of a man” meant something to him (see Revelations or wherever it’s from).
Anyways, not to be taken too seriously one way or the other, just idle thoughts.

Who says it's not AX-you?
Where have you seen this being stated that it was AK and not AX? Did you actually see the writing on his arm to make that statement are is it just conjecture on your part?
