Goracle vs. God

The good Lord has to have a sense of humor and a sense of irony. Al Gore has been making the rounds propounding his global warming scheme to the masses. He has taken on an almost mythic status since his epic, "An Inconvenient Truth" and subsequent academy award. It looked as if the global warming juggernaut was rolling over the masses and eliminating any competing global climate theories. Al Gore had become the Goracle. Modern day prophet. Seer of the future. A sage for the times.

There is, however, one thing the Goracle can't control. That would be the weather. Just this past weekend, another global warming conference has been canceled due to inclement weather. By my count, that makes three major global warming conferences cancelled because of snow and/or extreme cold. Hell, we had a snow storm yesterday and I mowed my lawn and barbecued today. I am not kidding. We had a major snow storm yesterday. It was falling so hard, visibility was greatly decreased. The temperature was about 34 degrees and it didn't accumulate very much. By late evening, all the snow had melted. Today, the high was in the low 60's. I hopped on the lawn tractor and knocked down those clumps of grass that always outgrow the rest of the lawn. After that, while listening to the Cardinals beat the crap out of the Brewers on the radio, I grilled some T-bones and corn on the cob for the Conservative family.

This past week the temperatures in my neck of the woods have averaged about 20 degrees below normal. I have read here and there that this April looked to go down in the books as the coldest April on record. This doesn't square too well with the Goracle's predilections. If the Goracle's thesis was accurate, I should be in the full swing of summer right now. Instead, we just finished a week of winter weather.

How is a person supposed to account for this? The Goracle has seen fit to start changing his phrase from global warming to climate change. I have seen several articles lately that stress that we are in the midst of climate change and the phrase, "global warming" is strangely absent from them. Seems the weather hasn't been cooperating. People don't want to hear about "warming" on a global scale when they are bundling up against a late season cold snap. So the Goracle crowd changes their tune to climate change. Climate change can encompass any weather anomaly. Whatever the weather does, the Gorelites can claim it is due to human induced climate change. They can't miss with that one.

The Goracle has essentially proclaimed the supremacy of man. That man is so powerful and omnipotent as to be able to cause havoc in the climate patterns that control our weather. This would make man the ruler of nature. In effect, Goracle has taken from God, His just rule. Man has supplanted God in nature. But only Goracle and his devotees know what to do. We, the masses, must be told how to live. We must be told how to reduce our carbon footprint and in the process line the Goracle's pockets. If we only do as the Goracle instructs, the earth will be spared destruction.

But the weather in the month of April is not cooperating with the Goracle. Could it be that the Lord, in his heavenly domain, has heard the cries of the Goracle and his minions? Could Jehovah, in his infinite wisdom, be pulling a few strings of his own to demonstrate to Goracle, his followers and mankind in general, that man is not so powerful as to be able to change the weather on a global scale? Is God sending a message that He is the author of the earth, the seas and all things therein? It would seem so.

Goracle and the gorelites fancy themselves superior. They alone claim the high morality. The rest of us consumers are the problem. But God has a way of bringing the lofty down low. As time goes on and the global warming farce is shown to be folly, Gore will be looked upon in much the same way as Chicken Little. A cartoonish character running around spouting the improbable, scaring a few and inevitably cast aside in the ash heap of history.

God - 1. Gore - 0.

I didn’t create it. I believe it may be property of the National Post. You’ll need to research it if you intend to profit from it.

Now they are talking about heat islands to explain away objections that their description doesn’t fit.

“Goracle” is a word that never gets less funny, no matter how many times I hear it. Everytime I hear/see it, I envision this down-on-his luck man, who desires nothing more than to be taken seriously - only to find one comedic pitfall after another. Thanks for the laughs, algore.
