The former Congressman, Charles Taylor, is making noises about running again. I don't think he will; here's why: 1) the last election showed him that he is political road kill, and that situation hasn't gotten any better. 2) Being a possible candidate allows him to raise money for his "campaign," and that allows him to put in his own pocket up to the $1.6 million that he loaned his campaign in a vain attempt to hold onto his seat in 2006.
Give me a call at home, at your convenience. I'm in the book in Highlands, NC.

We lived in Ocean City but I was born in Salisbury. My dad used to dig up clams there and puree them with my milk for me to drink when I was a baby. Even back then I sort of liked exotic food.
I was just up in the NC mountains a couple of days ago on vacation, around Cherokee. Drove through Highlands on my way back to Florida, and have spent many an hour driving the roads around there. I know a nice campsite a few miles south of Highlands that I use a lot. There may be a more beautiful drive than US 64 between Cashiers and Franklin somewhere, but I haven’t driven it yet.
Speaking of Asheville, I drove through it on the interstate about six years ago, but haven’t driven into the city until this last trip I took up there. I’d heard nothing but what a beautiful place it is and decided to see for myself. Well, maybe I was just in the wrong part of town, but it looked like a total craphole to me, dirty and run-down and dangerous. A typical leftist worker’s paradise, IOW.
Anyway, I’m planning on another trip up that way in late October/early November, after I take (and hopefully pass!) the PE exam in Florida. Please keep us up to speed on what your campaign plans are. I have to imagine that there are already a lot of folks outside of Asheville who don’t much care for Heath Shuler any more.
