Islam Part III - Ban the Muslim Religion Say Some

There are serious efforts being made by serious people to introduce a Constitutional amendment that would ban the Muslim religion since it is a political movement, and not simply a religion, and since it seeks to destroy all opposition and impose Sharia on the western world. There is ample precedent for such an approach in that we have had the Smith Act that was aimed at combating the Communist Party in the United States.

Stands to reason. Protection by the state per 1st amendment ought to be predicated on [as a minimum] neutrality towards the state’s constitutional framework; with active hostility to the above being an automatic disqualifying event.

You see, when the claim is submitted that “Islam is a peaceful religion,” it is most always based on the fact that indeed, most Muslims are peaceful people.

Aside from this fantasy, trying to ban a religion, what do you think the effect would be, even if we make a hypothetical assumption that Congress actually tries to ban a religion?
