Fred Thompson in 1994: Let The Woman Decide - Monday, April 09, 2007 @ 3:06:23 PM

During his first run for the U.S. Senate, Fred Thompson said in an interview to a libertarian Republican newsletter that the ultimate decision to have an abortion "must be made by the woman."

The comments were made in the July/August issue of Republican Liberty, the official newsletter of the Republican Liberty Caucus.

In the interview, Thompson was asked: "Some conservatives got flustered by your comments on abortion and Roe vs. Wade. Would you like to explain your position on abortion?"

Thompson answered: "Government should stay out of it. No public financing. The ultimate decision must be made by the woman.

LOL, this is the lame of lame. A Rudybot trying to make abortion an issue. Get real. Mr. Rudy wants taxpayers funded abortion, while Thompson has a perfect pro-life voting record. Please make abortion an issue Rudybots.

The big difference is that Thompason says he’s solidly prolife now. He has come around.

How’s Rudy doing on that one?

Talk to American Spectator not me. I personally don’t care what Fred Thompson says but he’s in the news - so he gets a post.

Fred Thompson: 0%

Rudy Giuliani: 100%

Still trying to spin this one, aren’t you?

I see from your profile that you’re a Rudy supporter. What does he have to say about abortion?

“I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights,” Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded.

What’s your point?

LOL, don't pretend you just post random articles. If it was a pro-Fred slant, you would not have.

Rudy is honest. He has said his views haven’t changed. What is Fred’s excuse?

This is still Rudy’s position today.

But NARAL gives Fred an F.

So sad for you.

That’s what I said a while back but apparently Fred can do no wrong. He’s a Reagan clone as far as they are concerned.

Fred Thompson believes Roe V wade is bad constitutional law, and the issue should return to the states.

Rudy Giuliani believes Roe v Wade is good constitutional law.

Fred Thompson was endorsed by a pro life group when he ran for the senate. He has a pro life voting record.

Rudy Giuliani spoke to NARAL and praised margaret (eugenics) sanger.

Funny that you rudybots, who can’t defend rudy enough on abortion, are trying to paintfred thompson as some kind of pro abortion candidate.

Deciding to become pro-life needs no excuse, only congratulations.
